The casting symbolizes true perseverance and tenacity in achieving ones personal goals. Fine details show on the fins, the scales, the barbels and sun-like designs just above the gills.

Japanese bronze fu-dog and ball. The playful fu-dog stands with mouth open in a dynamic pose with back feet on the ground and front paws on the ball. The ball is made of open work bronze with a design of peonies and scrolling vines.

Antique Japanese globular bronze vase. Very simple with 3 raised koi fish swimming together and cresting the surface of the vase as if it were water. The raised details of their eyes are highlighted with gold inlay. Signed Shihou and dated July 18, 1926.

Japanese bronze usubata in the form of an open natural lotus, standing on a coiled stem with a lotus bud. Usubata are used for beautiful flower arrangements, an art form known as ikebana.

Wonderful Japanese figure of the Buddhist deity Bishamonten (Hindu name: Vaisravana), made out of iron. Bishamonten is cheif of the Four Heavenly Kings and is the guardian of the northern direction (in Japan he is one of the Seven Lucky Gods), he holds a small pagoda in one hand symbolizing the divine treasure house, whose contents he both guards and gives away. Signed by the artist: Seiun. circa mid 1930's. Size: 25" high x 12" wide x 9" deep.

A Japanese gilt copper hanging lantern decorated with engraved motifs of scrolling clouds, waves, and vines. The bottom contains a six petaled flower like design. Charming small Japanese lidded box in the shape of a folding fan, made of silver with copper for handle, incised with two family mon inside and two impressed marks on back of outside, one reads the name of the maker, Kyuka-sei and the other which reads jungin or sterling silver. The piece contains an inscription dating to March of 1953 where students from Tojo Photo Studio gave the vase to their teacher in celebrating the 40th anniversary of their studio.
