Rare carnelian bowl with a beautiful deep orange-yellow. The typical Chinese shape is classic, and the capacity is that of a tea bowl. The grinding work is meticulous, the shape is perfect, the Agate has an excellent color which shows shades of color ranging from yellow to orange through transparency. Very fine Chinese antique belt hook carved in the shape of a knot with a butterfly on either end, made of beautiful mottled jade ranging from white to grey to bright blue/green, a silver fitting on the back was added later to convert this clothing hook to a pin or broach.

This is an authentic example from the Qijia culture, dating to 2100-1600 BCE, of a well-known type of ritual axe, known as a "Yue." It measures 4" in length and 3-3/8" at its widest point (10cm X 8.5cm). The surface has a beautiful, smooth polish; the "blade" has a beveled edge and has been sharpened, although it shows no signs of actual use. The large hole has been conically drilled. The stone is a variegated mid-green with some darker inclusions. In all, a very beautiful piece...

Two playful monkeys climbing on a large peach, carved from antique agate. Monkeys are commonly depicted in Chinese art as holding a peach as a symbol for wealth and a long life because the word for "monkey" is a homophone to the word for "nobleman". They often call this "feng hou bao shou" which can mean both "crazy monkey clutching [a peach]" as well as "may you become a salaried official and embrace longevity". 19th century Size: 1.5" long x 1.25" tall

19th Century Chinese Natural large carved Rock Crystal Guan Yin figure, Ca. mid 1800's, 9 1/2" high, 3 1/2" wide-widest part, 2 1/4" thick, carved out of one large Rock Crystal, almost clear and good quality, well polished without infusions on her face, hands and feet. Only rough area with some infusions are on the upper head in the back which is not well polished, shows darker brown tiny spots in the stone...

The body of the figure appears human with hands resting on bent knees and feet tucked under. Carved of pale green jade with orange rind and striations. A Chinese jade oval bowl carved in the Mughal style with lobes forming the body , the base with three concentric zones showing leaves and encircling a central flower. The body is thinly carved , the stone is of mottled pale celadon tone. A competently executed example, it measures 2 cm wide, in excellent condition, no breaks no restoration and dating to late Qing period.

A pale celadon nephrite "heart shaped" jade carving, done entirely by hand. The piece measures 4-1/2" in length and 2-3/4" at its widest point. The raised carving is approximately 3/4" in height. The design is of a coiled dragon, as shown in the photos. Evident signs of alteration/calcification in the stone. This is not a modern piece and is guaranteed to be no later than the 19th century and possibly earlier. A genuine and substantial carving, beautifully done.

Chinese antique carving of gourds, made from agate. Gourds are interesting because they have many special meanings to the Chinese. The Chinese would scoop the insides clean and use the hard outer shell as a bottle for medicines, wine, and elixirs. The vines of a bottle-gourd are pronounced as "man" or "wan", which also means "10,000" in Chinese. Because the plant has many seeds, it was symbolic for fertility (10,000 seeds/children)...

This very well carved white jade (nephrite) Lohan (Arhat) is an early 20th century product. It depicts a Lohan sitting on a rock, his left hand holds a wood stick he is using to clean his ear; his right arm is resting on the rock. The impression on his face is just interesting and realistic. It is 6 ¼” high, 5 ¾” wide and 3 ½” thick. Aside from natural blemishes, it is in great condition.

An authentic neolithic Chinese nephrite jade bi. The piece measures 6-1/2" in diameter. The central hole is drilled conically from one side only. A medium green nephrite with darker inclusions. There are visible marks inside the central hole showing how it was drilled. Authenticity is guaranteed. All of these jade pieces that I am listing come from a collection formed before 2000 and are not modern copies.

This is a superbly well carved jade piece dating, I believe, most probably to the Song dynasty, circa 1100AD, although possibly a tad later. The jade is a grayish-green nephrite and is truly the work of a highly accomplished artist. It measures some 3" in length and is 2" in height (7.5cm X 5cm). 1/4" in depth (1mm). A real beauty! A Chinese mutton fat nephrite jade pendant or toggle of Budai measuring about 2 1/2" long and weighing 86g. While primarily white in color, the jade has a few random russet sections on the side and rear, and evinces under strong light a faint subtle green tint. There is a hole which is used to thread for wear. Unmarked.
