Original Antique Japanese sword tansu made from kiri (paulownia) wood with a brown lacquer finish. The front features four long drawers and one small drawer with iron locks and handles.

A fine Imari bowl and cover decorated with a pattern composed of Autumn flowers, akikusa de, and Banded hedges, shibagaki. A wheel cut Johanneum inventory number incised to the interior of the foot-ring of the bowl indicating that it belonged to the collection of Augustus the Strong, and was acquired before 1722. Both cover and bowl marked with an enamelled choji motif.
The bowl and cover are in superb condition, no cracks, chips or restoration...

Antique Japanese door with a beautiful painting of a playful looking geisha holding the folds of her robes and carrying a maple branch in her hand. Her robe is navy blue with a turquoise obi, with intricate auspicious symbols accented by red. A low hanging maple branch with fall colored leaves and mushrooms hangs above her head. Splashes of gold flecking surround her. The opposite side of the door has been painted with a wonderful scene of boats and mountains...

This piece features a warm golden glaze with several patches of lighter pigmentation. The inside of the bowl is especially inviting and shows a magnificent patina developed over many decades of use and what appears to be a partly faded stencil of a pinecone. Large, Song style porcelain bowl with incised decoration. The very thinly potted body glazed with an superb, pale blue Qingbai glaze.
Kangxi Period ( 1662 - 1722 ). The bowl is marked with a very rare Kangxi Mark : Xuanhe reign title ( AD 1119 - 25 ) I recommend to do a Google-search in order to read more about this rare Mark. Diameter : 18,4 cm. H : 5,9 cm. Condition : Perfect with a very very nice "ping" tone when tapped.

The interior of this dish is painted with a stylized dragon amid a concentric wave design, with the well having four elongated cloud designs. The underside has four “ruyi” fungus and a rectangular character in underglaze blue in the center. It is raised on a low foot, the base of which is not glazed, and the dense, white porcelain body is exposed. A few small pin pricks in the glaze, typical of older wares, are seen in the glaze here and there...

The interior of this dish is decorated with a pair of phoenix birds in flight. The underside has four “ruyi” fungus in underglaze blue and an underglaze blue single character mark is painted on the center of the base. It is raised on a low footring, the base of which is unglazed exposing the dense, white porcelain body. There are some small pinhole glaze pricks with some darkening that is typical of older porcelain wares...

This two-handles stoneware vase's body is covered in a creamy slip glaze which is carved through with a peony design to reveal the light brown clay body. The entire vase except for the foot is covered in a very thin clear glaze enriching the tone of both slip and body. The light brown clay body is exposed on the footring and base. A small amount of burial earth adheres to the foot and base. It is in good condition.

Little distorted half cylinder shaped (tsutsugata) tea bowl made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay.
The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical, glossy black iron oxide glaze inside and outside.
The window is decorated with three concentric squares and twigs in iron oxide glaze has then covered with a clear ash and feldspar glaze. This is a typical Momoyama design...
Signifying strength and resilience, bamboo—together with pine and plum (sho chiku bai)—is an auspicious symbols running through the heart of Japanese art and culture. The young bamboo depicted here—sprouting from a patch of rocks—were composed by one of the most renowned and loved waka poets of the 19th century, Ōtagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875).
Rengetsu was born into a Samurai family but was soon after adopted by the Ōtagaki family...
