Japanese woodblock print quadriptych (four panels) by Osaka actor Yoshitaki (1841-1899) dating circa 1860's. Each panel features an actor standing against an embossed, checkered background. The black ink signature of the artist is in the lower section of each panel. Each chuban sized sheet measures 9 1/2"V x 6 7/8"H. Excellent color with extensive gauffrage and lacquered highlights. This well carved late Meiji Period (1868~1911) wood okimono is 2 ¾” high, 3” wide and 2” thick. It depicts a sitting Hotai with big smile on his face. It is signed “Chikamitsu” and is in excellent condition.

This miniature Japanese blue and white Imari vase is an early 20th century product. It is 3 ¾” high and 2 ¼” at its widest part. A fan shaped design painted with a landscape and tree adorn the neck of the vase. Morning glory, chrysanthemum and unknown flowers are painted on the body. Though small, the painting is very well presented. Aside from two cracks, one on the bottom and one on the side of the fan due to firing, it is in excellent condition.

This early 20th century South East Asian bone carving is 7” high, 1 ¼” wide and 1 ½” thick. It depicts a deity sitting in a lotus position on a Phoenix throne. His/her hands are held together in prayer. Aside from two tiny pieces missing from the throne, it is in great condition.

Storage jar with beautiful dark brown glaze drippings from the neck and shoulder down, over a dark brown stone ware with countless inclusions. Around the neck engraved with cross pattern. Shape somewhat distorted. Height 11 inches, width 10 inches. Two short cracks at the rim, one small chip at the rim, glaze partly rubbed due to extensive usage. Overall condition good. Japan 18/19th century.

This early 20th century Japanese carved bone and tagua statue is 6 ¼” high, 2” wide (the base is 2 5/8” wide) and 1 ¾” thick. It depicts a man who appears to be a merchant. His left hand carries a pouch; his right hand is raised up and holds an unknown subject. His body was carved from bone and his head was carved from tagua (vegetable ivory). Aside from a small repair on the collar, it is in good condition.

Small jar. Slender body with short, cylindrical neck and wide mouth. On the shoulder four lugs. Upper two third of the body covered in a dull brown speckled glaze. Thailand, Sukhothai, 14-16th century.
Height 11½ inches.
One small chip underneath rim, missing areas (mouth and shoulder) in glaze, generally in very good condition.

Small shrine, or zushi, in a folkish style. In a simple, square case sits Buddha Shakyamuni with a round object in his hands, possibly a jewel or an alms bowl, carved in soap stone. Shaka sits on a low pedestal. On the inside of the left door a paper label with the inscription … no shaka sonzo (Figure of the … Buddha). Height case 7 inches; height figure 3 ¼ inches. Some traces of usage to the case. Figure in good condition...

Travel shrine, or zushi, with sitting figure of Kukai, carved in wood. The founder of the Shingon sect sits on a low pedestal, his shoes put underneath. In his left hand he holds the rosary, in the right he formerly held a vajra. Figure carved in plain wood, the pedestal decorated in gold and the typical red, white, green and blue. The inside of the doors decorated with lotus flowers in dull gold lacquer on shining gold lacquer...

A fine 7.5" unsigned grey wireless cloisonne vase depicting the full moon on a cloudy night, similar in color and style to the pair of Namikawa Sosuke vases illustrated on page 187 of "Japanese Cloisonne" by Coben and Ferster.

Imperfections: One hairline under the top rim.

The size of Plate: 7 1/4" Dia x 1 1/8". Pretty Japanese Ko Imari Plate. The plate has blue underglaze design with red, gold design in the center. There is two design around with total three windows and three strip decoration. One with Crane and Pine tree with gold karakusa design. Other stripe design with red Karakusa and green geometric design. All of design are done with very good detail work. The condiiton of plate very good, no chip, no crack and no hairline...

A 7.5" light olive green silver wire vase, unsigned. Silver rimmed with black counterenamel and bottom, it is decorated with finely executed vines and blue berries.

Imperfections: A small flake directly under the top silver rim, shown in enlargement #1 and one very small light area on the green enamel, 1" above the base, visible in enlargements #3 and #4; both are probably manufacturing flaws...

The pair of mid 19th century carved ivory emperor and empress are 14”~15” high, 3”~3 ½” wide and 2 ½” thick. The emperor’s right hand holds a pagoda; his left hand carries a long sword. Two small long tailed birds and a flower plant are placed in front of him. The empress’s right hand holds a flower basket; her left hand carries a tassel. A large phoenix sitting on a garden rock is beside her...

Half portrait of Daruma in bold strokes of gray and black. Lower right signature Isshin hitsu and two seals. Black and gray ink on paper. Painted area 36 ½ x 8 ½ inches. Toned, some horizontal creases, repaired missing area at lower middle. Celluloid scroll ends.

Ebisu sits on a rock, a bamboo stalk in the hand, as if holding a fishing rod, a giant red carp stuck under his arm. Daikoku stands on rice bales and holds his hammer in the hand. Around them a split daikon and the coat and hat of invisibility. On the lower right two seals: Kachutei Ninsei (or Jinsei). Ink and colors on paper (black outlines are hand painted, NOT printed). Painted area 11 ¾ x 18 1/8 inches...

The deity Shomen Kongo standing on a demon in front of a flaming halo. In front of him a rooster and a chicken and a monkey with a gohei. Ink and colors on paper. Painted area 25 x 11 inches. Several horizontal creases due to rolling, several small missing areas, all backed and partly retouched. New mounting in Chinese style. Overall stable condition.
