19th century netsuke of four monkeys trying to contain three huge fogs that they caught and put in a tied bundle of lotus leaves. Very unusual (possibly unique) subject, beautifully carved, excellent faces of both types of creatures, eyes of the frogs are inlaid with light brown horn, wonderful hairwork, great patina. Signed cursively on the bottom - it appears to read ROSEI, but I am not entirely sure. Length 1.59 inches.

Rather unusual late 19th century Chinese glass seal in a shaped of a stylized rock. Beautiful transparent glass, excellent finish to the surface. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1 (photo is flipped left to right to present the image as it will actually print on paper). The bottom is crisply carved with four raised characters that can be translated as THE HALL WHERE KINDNESS is CULTIVATED, old dried red seal paste in the grooves. 19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke with copper top engraved with Daruma screaming and waving his hands. Excellent design, wonderful use of katakiribori - carving technique recreating brush strokes used in sumi ink drawings - see finely chiseled lines of his robe. Nice wooden bowl, metal fitting around himotoshi. Disc diameter 1.19 inches, bowl diameter 1.79 inches.

Japanese Meiji period "omocha-e" (toy picture) woodblock print illustrating various kitchen and restaurant products and furnishings available in the late 19th century. Chefs and waitresses are demonstrating their use. The title and artist's name (unidentified) are in black ink at the top margin. Two very unique and richly painted Chinese porcelain hat stands of the late 19th century. Charming scenes of the traditional family relaxing in an open garden setting, the garments are painted in various bright colors against a backdrop of nature. Condition is excellent with no hairlines or chips, just some minor rubbing of the gold trim and very trace fading of the details, yet all details are distinct and complete. These measure 11" high x 4.5" diameter.

This silver box, of lobed medallion form, has a hinged lid decorated with geometric and floral repousse work in prominent relief. The sides are incised with floral elements with a caligraphic cartouche in the front. The base is also incised with a floral design surrounded by a band of small repeating triangles. The entire box is fashioned from solid sheet silver. There is some wear and light tarnish.

Burmese wooden seated crowned Buddha, or sometimes known as 'King Buddha', wearing diadem-crowns and ornaments of kings instead of ordinary monk's robes. Crowned Buddha represents the Buddha's role as a universal sovereign.

Cotton futonji made of hand-spun cotton and vegetable indigo dye. It has tsutsugaki auspicious motifs such as crane, turtle, plum blossom, bamboo and pine tree. Tsutsugki technique is excellent. In good condition but has a mending patch causing the lacking part of design and re-sawn by machine, a mending patch and also a snag (2cm) in the upper part. 19th century. W:130cm, L:186cm

Small Chinese Bi-form white jade ornament in the Mughal manner with cupped chrysanthemum petals in three, concentric, graduated circles surrounding a cross-hatched, pierced center. The flat verso cupped slightly toward the face along the rim, with small drilling (exhibiting hand craftsmanship) either side of the central aperture and with the surface exhibiting natural texture of the hand worked surface. Qing dynasty. Good condition. Diameter 2 1/8 inches.

Beautifully carved stone pocket miniature of a dragon in clouds. The dragon writhes in the clouds and seems to be inhaling a vapor. It measures 2.5" long, .25" thick, 1.7" wide. 18th century.

A very unusual antique 19th-20th century African ceremonial dagger with a carved and dyed bone grip in the form of a human figure, has a hand forged flat, double-edged shaped rusted iron blade with a elaborate leaf shape scabbard made of two pieces of stiffened hide sown together with twisted twine and adorned on the center with carved and dyed bone tribal ancestor mask within an intricate pattern made of dyed Cowrie Shells stitched to the rawhide...

19th century Japanese Satsuma belt buckle decorated with birds among blooming chrysanthemums and a raised bamboo garden aqueduct with water running along it. Excellent quality painting, numerous colors and gold enamels, in excellent condition. Metal backs are stamped with a single character GIN (silver). Size assembled 3.05 x 2.22 inches.

A fine very large bronze buddha, Burma or Northern Thailand, ca. 18th. century.

He helds both of his hands in a gesture of exposition or teaching (vitarkamudra) that in India is confined to the right hand. He wears multible jewels and a large headdress and especially large earrings. He is standing on a small flat base and professionally mounted on round black wooden plint.
