This molded earthenware vase is glazed turquoise and amber over the upper portion, leaving the lower portion and base unglazed exposing the biscuit with auspicious symbols of animals and various other elements. The glaze stops at the mouth rim and the interior is unglazed. The turquoise glaze covers various floral designs while the one panel of amber glaze on the flaring upper body reveals a human form, probably a scholar official...

It has an overall reddish brown patina and a slight blackish stain from ink on the official's hand and just above it. It is beautiful silk dangawari(Dyeing) jyuban kimono textile of the Taisho era(1912-1926). It is the color that very impressive, and is beautiful. It has a few thin stains. However, it does not stand out. There is not damage, and it is very good condition. size:144cm x 127cm (56.6" x 49.9")

Rare Japanese Female Haniwa Sculpture, Kofun Period, 4th century AD. This female clay figure was set in the ground at the site of a burial mound for the wealthy and Imperial class. It depicts a Chinese merchant with his hands in his sleeves, resting them in front of him.
