Antique Japanese lacquered samurai sword stand,holds five swords. The stand is simply done in black lacquer with gold paintings on the front and back panels. The bridge of the stand is decorated with a view of Mount Fuji divided into two sections. One side shows Mount Fuji with a dragon ascending the peak of the mountain. A pair of Chinese porcelain bowls decorated with peonies. The bowl contains a short poetic inscription which generally states: As if (one is) cherishing the beautiful, likewise at the moment (the flowers) are displaying its colors. A Chelsea-Derby dish copying a version of the Ko Imari Kuri-zu Shuronogata dish see EW 2608, decorated in a combination of underglaze cobalt blue and additional enamels. The dishes have a ground foot-ring which is characteristic of the output of the Chelsea factory. The dish is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration, some light stacking wear to the enamels and gilding to the rim. A good Arita dish in shurogata hemp palm form decorated with kuri, chestnuts, in a somenishikide palette of underglaze cobalt blue with gilt outlined enamels. Dishes with this pattern were copied at the Derby factory in England in the 1770’s, and moulds of this form were used by the Kakiemon kiln in Nangawara during the period 1750-80. A very finely painted Arita ring shaped wagata-bako porcelain box. It was probably used to contain cosmetics, possibly an Oshiroi-bako, used to contain white face powder. An unusual and rare low bowl, hirabachi, produced at the Kakiemon kiln in the late Edo period, circa 1810-30. The design shows Mizuaoi, (Monochoria korsakowii), water hollyhocks, a distinctive marshland plant with beautiful blue flowers and luxuriant green foliage, and Sagi-so, Egret orchids, amongst a torrent of a mountain stream, juxtaposed against a stylised Karahana brocade ground. Chinese famille verte lidded jar with birds and flowers decoration and an attached brass stand. Early 20th century. Condition: Normal wear; the base may be drilled for mounting the stand - I did not remove the stand to examine it. No other visual flaws. Height with lid and stand: 14-1/4".

The Famille Rose decoration on this large tray is absolutely breathtaking. Please regard the enlargements to recognize the superb quality of this most impressing piece which almost reaches the quality of the best examples of the Yongzheng period. Description:

A Yaozhou lotus-bud bowl was in fine look.
It was well decorated on the surface with carved floral motifs.
The surface was spread with minute incursions which were caused by time.
Looking inside, the body clay was revealed with brownish tint which was an obvious characteristic of oxidation from time.

A small thinly potted wine or tea cup delicately painted in shades of underglaze blue with traditional Chinese landscape scenes. The cup is bound with a metal (copper) rim, apparently made to cover a burst glaze bubble. On the base is a four character shop mark which reads "Shun Li Kun Ji". The makers mark was in use during the late Qing / early Republic period so we assume that this item was made during the late 19th or early 20th Century. A large antique Chinese altar table made from Jumu wood. The front of the altar table contains intricate geometrical patterns, images of birds, flowers, and scrolling vine carvings. Interestingly, the top of the table contains repairs where the restorer created patterns of fish and pineapples to fill in holes on the surface of the table. Age: 19th century. The dishes are small, absolutely lovely and quite unique with their simple decoration of a flying crane and the other dish with a butterfly decoration. This pair of dishes fascinates by its simplicity. Ming Dynasty, Wanli period ( 1573 - 1620 ) Porcelain dishes with a Cobalt blue decoration, most probably Jingdezhen ware. Diameter : 8,7 cm. Condition : Perfect with a nice glaze and a nice "ping-tone" when tapped. No cracks, no chips - this what looks like small rim chips is covered with glaze.

Statue of Buddha Amitabha (or "Amitayus"), wearing diadem and sitting cross-legged on a double lotus throne. Amitabha holds a vase containing the nectar of immortality on his lap. Gilt bronze, the face itself is cold-gilt. Tibet, 18th century. Height: 6 1/4" (16 cm). Gilding partly eroded, otherwise very good condition.
