Ensemble of very old beads, I found these in a small shop in Phrae, Northeast Thailand a few years ago. The green mottled beads are late Qing Dynasty Peking glass, the brown glass tapered tube bead emulating agate was probably made for the Funan or Chenla Kingdoms as I have agate beads from the same period which are pretty much identical, the white bead with orange splash is at least early Qing...

Two strands of colorful and quirky glass bangle fragments drilled and reworked into beads. These are Persia, circa 6th CE - 7th CE which would make them late Sassanian Empire or early Islamic Era. A very rare necklace of 78 glass beads (green, blue-green, opaque white & translucent). Five (5) of the largest beads have a dark caramel colored glass streaked/looped design. Period: Han Dynasty Size: Length = 20 inches (51 cm.) Condition: The glass beads have iridescence (seen under magnification) and some calcification due to long period of burial. Can be cleaned.

A Rare Han Dynasty large oval glass bead in shades of very pale blue to dark sky blue. Most of the front side of the bead has developed an intriguing beige patina. There are bi-toned (dark green & light blue) curvey line designs which are imbedded in the glass surface. The light blue line is now iridescent with age. The bead has two holes in the center for stringing.

Rare and beautiful group of 120 Han Dynasty glass beads: 118 small beads, and 2 larger beads. A range of color from green to yellow and other that are calcified white with age. Some round and some foliate shape. A range of size from 5/16" to 3/4" wide. Strung together for a total of approx. 20" long strand. Han Dynasty (206 B.C. to 220 A.D.)

This is a chinese peking glass bowl of emerald green with a band of white mouth rim, butteflies motive and lotus lappet at the base. The butterfly is an embalm of joy,freedom and conjugal felicity. It is also a symbol of summer. The lotus lappet is regarded as an embalm of summer and fruitfulness. The flatten base has the seal mark of Tongzhi and of the period.

Skillfully painted on the interior with a scene of a mountainous landscape with waterfalls and scholars’ residences, loosely in the manner of the late Ming/early Ching artist, Wang Jian.

The transparent glass is slightly grayish in tone and the vase’s interior has been evenly ground to create a frosted background to the painting. The artist was probably a professional snuff bottle painter.

Late 1800s

Water pot of squat, ovoid form with a narrow foot and slight depression of a base. The even lavender-blue tone of the glass is translucent in strong light and is well-polished on the interior as well as the exterior. Such items as this were essential for the scholar's desk and are more often seen in ceramics than in Beijing glass. There are a few areas of abrasion and scratches from use and some light wear to the foot area...

Beautiful antique Chinese aquamarine colored snuff bottle. An official carrying a basket in their back. Beautiful work reticulated sides with birds and flowers. On reverse, birds on flowering branches. Lid has carved flowers. Well carved out interior. Possibly Peking glass. Age: Late 19th Century/ 20th century. Size: 3.5" Height.

Very nice Imperial yellow hand carved Chinese wine cup. The bowl is accented with carving details in the stems and lotus areas for added appeal. The shape of the bowls reflects those porcelain counterparts that were popular around the late Qing and early republic periods. Condition is excellent without any chips, cracks, hairlines, or restoration. Measures 4.5 inches high by 2.5" in diameter. Stand not included.

A nice beijing opaque yellow glass facetted bottle vase. Engraved four-character Xianfeng Mark, but probably 20th century. H : 18,8 cm. Condition : Perfect.
