This is one of the first tea bowls in Japan, which came together with the first tea from China. It is a Chinese Jian Tenmoku Tea Bowl of the oil-spot type. This piece was made at the kiln in Henan pottery area. It is very popular to be called as "Henan tenmoku" which has black glaze with patterns of rusty glaze. The pattern tends to peel off because of overglaze, however this piece has patten clearly remained.
