Lead glaze with copper is the main colorant used in Han period to produce brown glaze. Brownware became popular during the Eastern Han period.

A superb quality very large pottery figure of a male attendant or official, dating to the earlier Ming Dynasty, 1400-1500 AD.

The figure is placed on a high hexagonal plint and wears a fine two-colour blue and turquoise glazed robe. The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details.

The head is attachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period.

Rare Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse & Rider

This very rare and unusual pottery model of a horse & rider was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). The body of the horse, complete with the rider, has been made in a two-piece mould. the join running along the horse's neck and back and the sides of the rider. Note the detail of the rider, his clothing and his hands...

A beautifully preserved Han dynasty (221 B.C. to 206 A.D.) wine cup with mackerel silver highlights. This is caused by damp conditions within the tomb in combination with exposure to air, which in effect causes the silver to separate from the lead and surface toward the top. This wine cup has the original kiln supports still present. Authenticity guaranteed, it measures 13 cm long x 11 cm wide x 5 cm high (5" x 4.25" x 2"). No chips, no hairlines, etc.
