This old Chinese stoneware ceramic pipe bowl (smoke chamber) would have been placed onto the smoking pipe to allow for a small piece of opium to be smoked. The tiny opening at the top would allow the smoke to be drawn into the stoneware chamber and cooled before being inhaled by the smoker.

The piece has 2 different makers marks which are clearly stamped into each side of the clay underside of bottom hole.

A green glazed "celadon" stoneware vase with flattened pear-shaped body,ring handles and moulded decoration made in the Longquan kilns, Zhejiang province in the 14th Century, during the Yuan dynasty (1279-1368). On each side of the vase are six-lobed cartouches containing the Chinese characters "shou" (longevity) and "fu" (prosperity). Porcelanous stoneware with a molded decoration covered with an elegant pale gray glaze. Yue Ware ( Yueyao ), Five Dynasties to Song Dynasty, tenth to eleventh centuries. Diameter : 9,8 cm. Condition : Perfect

It is beautifully potted in an ovid melon form with in a transparent icy green glaze, with the rounded side tapering to a short foot. The qingpai glazing which is uneven, fall short of the short foot-rim with a recessed base.

There are no repairs or restorations. There is some minor firing fault, degradation, glaze crazing and minor losses as shown in all the photograps. Minor scattered oxidise spot as shown in all the photographs...

The most important first : This piece is not from Ancient Dragon House and not from Roy Hu´s Asian Art ! A very small Song Junyao bowl with slightly rounded sides and incurved rim covered with a grayish-blue glaze with an very nice splash of purplish-red to the interior of the bowl. There were many hundreds of smaller Tang Dynasty Changsha bowls on the Belitung wreck, but just very very few larger pieces of the same kind. This is one of these extremely rare larger pieces. By its extraordinary large size despite its glaze degradations this piece appears extremely decorative. A " must " for any Belitung - collection. Diameter : 20,9 cm. H : 8 cm. Southern Song period ( 1127 - 1279 ) Zhejiang province. Extremaly rare small cup with a superb quality opaque glaze. The exposed clay to the base turned reddish during the fiering prozess. Unfortunately the enclosed images are not able to show how amazing this piece is. Diameter : 4,6 cm. H : 2,7 cm. Condition : Amazing glaze, no chip but there is a unbelievable slight short hairline which is only to see with a 10 X lens.

If you look closer at the surface of this area you can see, that this lost must happened before the burning process...

Five Dynasties (907 - 960 AD ) Zhejiang ( Yue - ware ). The interesting shape of this pot was the early model for the very expensive Qing Kangxi period porcelain Water-pots. H : 6,8 cm. Diameter : 9,8 cm. Condition : Perfect

Northern Song ( 11th - 12th century ) The lustrous and glossy black glaze on the fine white body of this extremely rare piece are characteristic of the finest " Ding " vessels developed in the Dingzhou kilns at Quyang, Ding county, Hebei province in the Northern Song period. H : 4,2 cm. Condition : When examined with a 10X lense there is to see a very fine hairline to the body which is nearly invisible with the free eye, further in a perfect condiion.

Geyao cup in a very nice Song Dynasty inspired shape. Seventeenth century. The brown clay to the base seems to be the original grey stoneware which turned to a dark brown during the firing process. It seems not just to be a brown slip which covers the unglazed body to the base which would be typical for Qing pieces their intention it is to pretend a Song Dynasty piece. Diameter : 5 cm. H : 3,6 cm. Condition : One restored chip.

A stoneware bottle with an very decorative Guan-like glaze. Although the shape of this rare piece is clearly a Song Dynasty shape reference images from a reputable Chinese porcelain site point to a dating to the Ming Chenghua period. Since there is a copyright to this reference images I cannot show them here. H : 10,8 cm. Condition : Chipped to the rim as you can see this on the images, further in perfect condition ( body not cracked ).

This is a classical form Song dynasty small longquan or celadon dish with moulded appliqué twin fish in the centre and an everted flatten rim. The dish is glazed with an uneven sea green or aquamarine glaze with crazing instead of the standard green colour.

A rare persimmon glazed Dingyao type covered bowl. It stands on a short unglazed footring, showing the white fine-grained body and everted to a straight persimmon glazed body. The inside of the bowl is glazed white with a burnt black spot in it. The inner mouth rim is unglazed. The cover of the bowl is of mild dome shaped with a small finial, which is likely to be of lotus bud. Pieces in such good condition are hard to come by.

This is a large bowl with deep sides rising from a short flared foot gradually for the first two-thirds, then steeply to a lightly indented vertical lip. The interior of the bowl is covered with glossy iron-rich black glaze with five lustrous russet-silvery glaze streaks, like a star, radiating from the base with the black glazed background. The exterior mostly black glaze underneath, the unglazed foot showing the buff body with the foot rim burnt to a very light mushroom colour.

This is Song Dynasty (960 – 1276) yingqing jar with cover. The motif on top of the cover is moulded. On the body, just below the neck, on the shoulder, it is incised with what looks like S-shaped sunray, on the centre part of the body, it is incised with lotus flowers and foliage and at the lower part towards the base, it is incised with upright leaf lappets.

Some minor abrasions. There are no chip, crack, restoration or repair. It is in good condition.

This is small Song Dynasty (960 – 1279) cizhou jar. It is decorated at the top with key fred design and below with lotus leave all round. In between the key fred and lotus leave design, is painting of some kind of plants in two cartouches. In between the cartouches is painting that looks like sea-waves..

Excavated in Kalimantan, Borneo. The piece is small, like most of the Song Geyao items, the shape is like Song, the glaze is like Song, but the clay ( porcelaneous ) looks different, and so unfortunately I have to be confident, that it must be a 18th century piece. This piece shows a well known motiv of a Han dynasty story-teller with a drum. The piece is old ( excavated ), but I am confident, that it is not from the Han Dynasty, because I never have seen a glaze like this among Han items.
