This small wooden box has a charming scene with 2 happy dragons carved into the sliding top. All 4 sides are carved. Late Qing period, box is in good condition, and measures 5" x 3" x 1.5

This rare Qing Dynasty mirror folds flat for storage and traveling. The hand-carved wooden frame depicts bamboo stalks, and the mirror cover carving depicts an iris plant in full bloom. The cover drops forward and down thru the legs to the rear where it acts as a back support while the mirror is in use. Protected by a rear wood panel, the original silvered glass mirror does show its age...

This very nice traditional Chinese pillow has leg supports which fold up when it is not in use. The top is made of shaped and stained bamboo slats which flex for soft comfort. This early 20th century Chinese carved wood statue is 9 ¼ inches tall, 6 inches wide and 4 inches in depth. The statue presents a legendary Chinese character who is a member of the eight immortals. According to legend, one day he told his follower that his spirit was going to travel far away. He asked the young follower to watch his body for seven days while he was away. If he did not come back after the seventh day, the young man must burn his body...

The wood statue Shou Xing (longevity) is carved from a part of a tree joint and it is quite heavy. He is holding a staff and a peach. The statue is 11 ½ inches tall, 2 ¾ inches thick and 5 inches on the widest part. It is late 19th century piece. The carving is simple but elegant. There is single Chinese character ¡°Wang¡± which was scratched on the back of Shou Xing¡¯s robe, maybe by collector. There are some crack lines and small chips due to the age...

Superb museum quality carved Chinese wood brise fan with deeply worked guard sticks and finely done inner sticks carved equally to both sides of lovely scenes. Larger than most brise fans, it also still has its original hand carved presentation box fitted in silk. Made in Canton, China for the export market, the fan and box dates circa 1870-1880. This brush pot displays shallow carving with incising utilizing the natural “skin” of the bamboo to depict a scene of tortoise, cranes, and pine as a wish for longevity. The carver's name is incised beneath the pine tree. It is in good condition and has a nice patina. There is some wear to the interior from use. Acquired in London in the mid 1980s.
