Ming Dynasty ceramic wedding booth. Traditionally in China, a woman was carried in a covered wedding sedan chair by bearers accompanied by musicians. This piece has a detachable roof, replicating a draped cloth and is in good condition- only a few minor glaze frits. Would make an excellent display stand for a small Buddha. The deep, rounded sides rising to a slightly everted rim, the interior covered in a black glaze decorated with two rows of closely spaced vertical russet stripes, while the slightly mottled black glaze on the exterior falls in an irregular line above the foot to expose the fine buff ware. Description: A lovely dog was carved vividly in a crouching way. Lying as is in sleeping, the dog's ribs were obvious by the carver's observation.The sandstone's quality was strong and the color was in grayish white and amid with black dots. Date was judged by the overall erosions and the characteristic style of the subject. Date: Song period(12th century), Width: 12cm , Height: 9.5cm.

Purchased from Askenasi in Paris in 1978 by Irwin Hersey, renowned author on Asian and primitive art, and publisher of the Primitive Art Newsletter in the 1970s. Irwin Hersey was an advisor to museums and prominent collectors, and vetted pieces for many of the international tribal art fairs and Asian art fairs. 8.5 x 5 x 2 inches, 21.5 x 12.5 x 5 cm.

This is a greenish glazed bowl dated to the Northern Song Dynasty. It stands on a short foot rim with a recess base.

The bowl is in very good conditions with the glaze intact.
