Set of Five Large Chinese Yuan / Ming Dynasty Painted Pottery Filial Piety Tiles with Oxford TL Test

These interesting pottery tiles with the subjects depicted in high relief with very good detail were made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) or possibly the early part of the following Ming Dynasty (AD 1368 - 1644). They are made from a high-fired grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments...

Beautiful Buddha statue carved from very light-toned wood, painted in pastel green, blue, yellow, green, orange, and pink, shown sitting upon a bench with budding flowers at his feet and blue swirling designs. 19th century Size: 31.5" tall, 13.5" wide

Elegant silver cigarette case, the lid decorated with bamboo. Inside marked "Tackhing", "90% silver" and a Chinese character mark. This silversmith was active between the late 19th century and early 20th century in Hong Kong. With original blue silk lined paper box, the lid with glass. Condition: few traces of usage, glass with breakage. Dimension: 8.2 cm x 11.7 cm, weight: 128 g.

Beautiful antique Chinese rank badge all done with gold and silver wrapped threat. Stitched on to silk. Designs of buddhist symbols and clouds and water. Edged in blue silk with black silk ground. Age: 19th century. Size: 14.25"L x 13.25"H

A Chinese mirror mounted with an 19 century jade ruyi head plaque on the back and a belt hook as a handle.The former is finely carved with precious objects; the canopy, fish, vase of flowers, lotus and endless knot, the handle shows a dragon with lingzhi facing the chilong. The mount is gilt silver and stamped "silver", the stones are of translucent pale celadon grey of even hue. Age: the stone : 19C., the mount: early 20C. size: overall length: 7 1/2 inches ( 18cm)...

A beautiful Chinese 10.5 inch high earthenware mudman figurine of a scholar holding a scroll which has been lamped without any seen damage to the figure. Including the base and harp the lamp measures 25 inches high. The base measures 7" x 7". Note: We have 2 of these lamps, see last 2 photos. They are $600 for the pair. Mudman dates circa pre-1920

Elegant Chinese Jian hare's fur tenmoku chawan made during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). Looking inside this Tenmoku chawan is like glazing deep into the cosmos. There one can understand the meaning of microcosm and ask whether one is looking inward or outward; probably both.

The deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to a lipped rim, covered overall in a carmine-red glaze falling short of the foot and thinning to brown at the mouth-rim...

Northern Song ( 11th - 12th century ) The lustrous and glossy black glaze on the fine white body of this extremely rare piece are characteristic of the finest " Ding " vessels developed in the Dingzhou kilns at Quyang, Ding county, Hebei province in the Northern Song period. H : 4,2 cm. Condition : When examined with a 10X lense there is to see a very fine hairline to the body which is nearly invisible with the free eye, further in a perfect condiion.

Early 18th century tea bowl and saucer, decorated in "imari" style in under glaze blue and over glaze iron red, depicting four-clawed dragons amongst cloud scrolls in pursuit of flaming pearls. This item was made for export to Europe during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735). Condition - there is a 0.6 inch (1.5 cm) hair line running from the saucer dish rim (see enlargements 5 and 6); there is the usual rim fritting and there is wear to the over glaze gilding...
