An extremely rare set of bronze figures depicting Krishna and his wife Radha. Very well proportioned and extremely finely engraved. Made in Orissa, India in the 17th or 18th century. Krishna is 22 cm high, Radha is 16,5 cm high. A complete set of Krishna and Radha is very hard to find. This set came from a Belgian private collection. Late 18th to early 19c century Indian bronze votive sculpture depicting Lord Vishnu with characteristic sun disc and conch shell held in his upper hands. Vishnu is the preserver of the universe and the embodiment of truth, goodness and mercy. Cast in Karnataka state, very crisp casting and great detailing, beautiful dark brown patina. Ancient mask, beautifully carved in heavy wood, with realistic features, representing the face of a snarling tiger. Wood, with remnants of the handpainted polychrome decoration. A pair woman's Paduka in fish form, made of hardwood and inlaid with brass wire. Base inscribed "Hindu bath sandals" and "Anna Broadwood". A similar pair in the Bata Shoe Museum Collection in Toronto. Dimension: c. 22 cm long, 8.8 cm wide, total height: 8.4 cm. Condition: few traces of usage, a short section with missing wire (see picture no. 2).

Exquisite antique silver necklace, circa 19th century. Each tiny bead is hand folded into a geometrical shape, some of them still have traces of gold wash I doubt if this kind of craftsmanship can be done today. The hexagonal pendant opens up into a “secret” lime box, and the clam shell bead is actually a bell. Included is an ancient excavated garnet bead. Total Length: 87cm/34.3in. Originally, this graceful sculpture may have stood at the doorway of a palace or temple as a warning to all malicious spirits not to enter. The tradition of lions guarding doors and gates is ancient and common to a great variety of cultures, including the Egyptians, Assyrians, Romans, and Chinese. There is a strong Chinese influence in this piece, suggesting open relations between the two cultures.

Unusual Indian small bronze Indian votive sculpture of the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha, known as the Remover of Obstacles, seated on high rectangular base, the most striking feature is the upturned circular movement of his trunk, his hands are also unusual in that they are mitt shaped and bear no attributes, all over black patina, 18th century. Height 3.5" Size: 3" high x 3" wide x 2 5/8" deep.

Very old anthropomorphic statue of a deity protecting a household, staying on a circular base, with an expressive face and hands in praying posture. Eroded wood, age patina. Nepal, 19th century. Height: 33.3 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Collected in the early seventies in the Himalayan region.

Gilt iron plate, of rounded triangular shape, finely cast in openwork, to represent a dragon in relief in clouds. Four coral inlays enhance the beauty of the plate. This plate is likely to have been part of a saddle decoration. Tibet, 18th century. The plate is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Length: 15.6 cm. Height: around 9 cm. Antique Tibetan vajrakila phurba, a Buddhist sacred dagger "believed to be capable of transmuting vice and egocentrism into benevolent compassion. According to legend, Padmasambava introduced the magic dagger to Tibet to subdue forces hostile to Buddhism." (Bonhams Auction Tues. June 28, 2016 page.14.) Made of iron and copper alloy.

Ritual dagger ("phurpa") formerly used by a shaman during ceremonies. The phurpa is made of wood, and is decorated in relief from top to bottom with three deities heads surmounted by a point, above geometric designs of chevrons and knots, themselves on top of the three blades decorated with snake design in relief. Nice dark-brown glossy patina. Several textile knots are affixed on the handle to "protect" the shaman's fingers from the magic strength of the phurpa. Nepal, 19th century...

Late 18th to early 19th century silver tribal Indian amulet with low relief depiction of a male god and his consort. Pendants of that type are known as patris, they were made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan and Gujarat for good luck and protection. Ceremonial Konyak necklace ; glass beads, bronze, shell. H closed : 38c. India, Nagaland, Konyak

This old drum from Nepal was used for festival and carried in parades. The man would use the left hand to hold the drum by the handmade ropes across the back of the drum. He would use the right hand to strike the drum skin. The chains and metal bits hanging from the bottom would add an extra "jangle" sound while drum moving. Clearly made as folk art instrument, the drum is somewhat out of round and about 18" at the widest diameter.

Antique Indian carved figure of Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu deity known as the Remover of Obstacles. Carved of soapstone and with traces of pigment. Ganesha sits on a bench with one leg up. His gently curling trunk rests on his large round belly. According to legend, Ganesha was created from mud by the goddess Parvati in order to guard her while she bathed. Upon returning home from meditation, Parvati's husband, Shiva was furious to find his path blocked by Parvati's mud guardia...

This is a large, early and powerful Tibetan copper repousse head. The piece is adorned with a crown of five skulls surrounded by flames.There is some very minor damage to the figure's left ear, a split, visible in the photos. Two of the crowns have lost their finial, again visible in the photos. The piece is substantial, sitting a generous 5-3/4" in height.
