Late 18th to early 19th century silver tribal Indian amulet with low relief depiction of what looks like 2 meditating yogini seated in lotus pose. Pendants of that type are known as patris, they were made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan and Gujarat for good luck and protection. As religious amulets they were blessed before being first worn. Low grade silver, very nice work, great patina. Height with hanging loop 1.32 inches, weight 3.3 grams

Rare Antique Museum Quality late 16th or early 17th century, circa 1600 A.D. (1009 AH) Antique Indo - Portuguese Indian Mother Of Pearl Bowl Islamic Mughal India. A cup of rounded form on a short brass foot with narrow brass rim, formed out of perfectly joined tapered sections of mother-of-pearl plaques, radiating from a central disk, and secured by metal pins.

17th Century Tibetan Padmasambhava Thangka, 24.25 x 18 inches, 61.5 x 45.5 cm. Most of these thangka were photographed through glass frames, so there may be a little blurriness. This thankga was in an exhibition at the University of Texas Art Museum.

Antique Indian miniature painting of a scene with two beautiful ladies in a courtyard. It appears that the ladies picnic has been disturbed by the antics of a cat and bird. At their feet is a spread of fruit and wine. Also a small cage. One could imagine a scene where the bird has escaped and is being chased by the cat. The women pursue the cat and the escaped bird. White doves fly in the blue sky above the walls of the inner courtyard. Painted in gouache on paper...

Antique Tibetan Dzi bead, agate with 8 eyes. The mystical Dzi beads are implements of ancient Tibetan and other Asian cultures for several hundreds of thousands of years. Dzi beads are believed to hold magical properties bringing prosperity and protection to whomever wore these beads.
They are also thought to hold medicinal properties, and so can be characterized by the "dig marks" left over the surface of the bead, where a small portion has been scraped away to be ingested...

An exceptionally detailed, well cast bronze devotional lamp ("Sukunda") depicting Ganesh (Ganesha)flanked by two lions, seated underneath a seven-headed cobra whose sinuous back proceeds down the lamp and is integrated into the handle, which is surmounted by a kneeling figure, possibly the devotee who commissioned the piece. In exceptional original condition. The piece stands some 12-3/4" in height and is quite heavy. A beautiful and substantial devotional item.

Ritual dagger ("phurpa") formerly used by a shaman during religious ceremonies. Wood, with nice dark patina. Textiles attached on top with a chain. Old restoration with a forged metal point on the lower part of the dagger. Nepal, early 19th century. Height: 13 1/4" (32,5 cm). The phurpa is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Good condition.

19th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of monkey god Hanuman with his hands in praying gesture in front of him, and his tail forming a loop behind him. Hanuman personifies ingenuity and faithfulness - his strength and courage helped Rama to defeat Ravana. Cast in Maharashtra, wonderful casting (see his body in strong S-shaped atibhanga flexion at the waist) and detailing, great patina. Height 2.5 inches.

18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture of Radha beautifully flexing her body, her arms wide spread, a betel nut in her right hand, and her hair arranged in a bun, cast in the State of Orissa. This antique type of metal work was common in Nepal during the 1800's and into the early 1900's. The birds beak is carved from bone which is dyed to color. The "jewels" are colored glass i.e. enamel drops of orange, turquoise and dark brown. Beak to tail tip the bird measures 3.5 inches and stands 2 inches high. Very good condition with one "jewel" missing on the side.

This is an exceptionally well carved mask, dating, most probably, to the early 20th century. The artist who created this mask has invested it with a powerful and menacing presence, as the photos will, hopefully, show. The piece measures just over 11 inches in width and is intact, carved from a single tree fungus. A rare and powerful survival.

This well-cast bronze depicts the baby Krishna as "the butterball thief," referencing an episode from his childhood. The piece is solid-cast and measures some 3" in length and 3-1/2" in height. Well cast with excellent details, especially the face and jewelry. Please see the photos.
