Rare Korean Koryo Dynasty ( 12th - 13th centuries ) green glazed stoneware dish. D : 10,5 inc. Very good condition !

Description: A bamboo brush pot was in simple but elegant shape. Engraved straight lines were carved crisply all over the surface. Countersunk at the bottom of the pot, the surface was in honey brown natural patina except some wearings at the lower rim. Late Choson period, ca. 1900

Decorated in cobalt blue with a design of chrysanthemum and bamboo, stoutly potted and glazed with a clear glaze of faintly aqua tint. Very minor glaze pitting and surface scratches, slight wood ash dusting seen mostly on the shoulder of one side, small amount of sand adhering to the foot, otherwise very good condition.

Choson period, 1800s

Scene of three sailing boats on a sea surrounded by mountains and a rocky shore. The two curving sides have a line of stylized brushwork. The flat base has sand and kiln grit adherence. Very good condition, with only very minor wear.

Acquired in Osaka, Japan in mid 1970s.

Koryo Dynasty, 1100s

Glazed entirely including the foot and base with a pale greenish-grey glaze, and decorated on two sides with bold stylized calligraphic designs. Good condition except for a small chip to the mouth rim. The foot retains evidence of at least eight spurs on which it was fired and possibly a dusting of wood ash from the firing adding character and a bit of visual texture to the upper body.

Choson period, 1800s

Covered entirely except for the footring in a clear glaze with a bluish tinge. Open to the base to accommodate a stemcup. Very good condition. No cracks or chips. Some sand adheres to the foot and base.

The bronze disk forming the base is decorated with an evening floral scene with an inlaid silver moon with incised stylized clouds. Antique Korean 2-panel screen painting depicting folk legend, painted in pigments on paper, newly remounted, at least 19th century maybe older, overall size: 35 1/2" high x 37" wide.

This Korean brush would have been used for painting and/or large calligraphy. The handle is an old horn of rich brown tones and a soft matte patina from use. The bristles are long and soft and show some ink residue close to the ferrule. It is a wonderful brush to hold

This antique Korean serving tray would have been used for serving tea or individual meals. The signature characters on the bottom are followed by the symbol for "student", presumably the tray was carved by an apprentice. The bottom also has rough darken areas for a more secure gripping surface and shallow attached feet which also have rough bottoms.

The tray has a delicately upturned lip, a deep rich red brown color. It is approx 13" x 9.5 inches...

Large Korean three-level kitchen cabinet (samch'ung ch'an-jang) orange-brown color finish, elm wood panels, iron hardware, top section has 2 small drawers with bat shaped hardware, top compartment opens wide with pair of double hinged doors, bottom compartment has 2 sets of doors opening to two separate compartments, beautiful overall scale and proportions, Chosun Period (c. 1900). Size: 68 3/4" high x 43" wide x 21" deep.

Antique Korean bandaji (blanket storage chest), made of beautiful thick elm wood with dove tail joinery, brass hardware including double happiness symbols, fish, and cranes, (c. 1910). Size: 38 3/4" high x 42 1/4" wide x 23" deep.

Korean antique 2-section personal head side chest, extensive chased brass (silver color) hardware, lovely mother of pearl inlay of birds and flowers, 4 small drawers across the top, bottom section has one large drawer, opening cabinet doors in the middle lead to one large compartment, dark color finish, nice wood grain, Chosun Dynasty (circa 1900). Unusual japanese bronze flower vase, signed with the original kiri (paulownia wood) tomobako box. On the lid of the box is the kanji 'Sentoku Tsubogata Hanaire' meaning the design is like a japanese tsubo or tea storage jar and smoked straw was used at the end of firing to achieve the rich colored markings and patina. The vase is a 'hanaire' meaning a flower vase. The hanko or seal of the artist is on the box but unfortunately we cant read it. perfect condition with karaki wood stand...

Sculpture of a bald headed man with a serene face, sitting while holding a small cymbal and drum stick in his hands. The cymbal and stick are connected to each other by a cord. The man dressed in Korean garment, as it is worn by Boddhisatva. Lime stone? Inside hollowed out. Korea, Choseon period, 18th century.

Excellent condition. Some pits in the surface, some traces of former pigmentation...

This Korean antique is a hand carved woodblock which would have been used to print a repeating decorative design pattern onto a textile. It is very old, and well worn with great patina.
