Wonderful large carved wooden face of a man. His mouth is open wide and whiskers splay outward. He has a wide nose and large eyes. He appears to be wearing an oval shaped hat on which is carved an animal of some sort with long striped tail and clawed feet. The wood is beautifully worn from years of weather and rain. The beautiful Thai Bronze Buddha statue completely captures his upper body. The Buddha's face is delicate and simply beautiful! His lips are pursed together and his eyes are downcast in deep meditation. It dates back to the late Ayutthaya Kingdom in the 18th century. A lovely piece with excellent detail and patina.

The wooden pedestal was renewed by our family a couple of years ago.

The size of the statue with its pedestal is large: it is 64 cm (25,19'') high!

This is a very nice and very old Buddha statue from Lopburi depicted with royal attire such as crown, ear rings, belt , necklace and more. The Buddha is sitting in a position of calling the earth to witness.

This statue was originally found in a property of Lopburi civilian which was buried under earth about 24 inches deep. The overall condition of the statue is very good, just only a few spots of oxidation reaction. No repairs. This is very nice proof of Siam and Khmer art in 1...
