Buddha is wearing regal attire here with traditional tall crown and body jewelry that is elaborately inset with lacquer and glass adornments. Gilding retention is relatively high on this example...

Sino Tibetan bronze statue of the Buddhist deity Tara, the "mother of liberation" and representation of the virtues of success in work and achievements. She is a tantric figure whose image is used as a focus for meditation. She is shown gesturing the Dharmachakra Mudra, or Wheel-Turning Mudra, expressing the continuous energy of the cosmic order. She wears elaborate jewelry and her hair has applied blue pigment.

Mother nursing her child, probably from the Sawankhalok kilns. The body of the hand-modeled figure is rather hastily sculpted as is the doll-like child. This hastiness is typical of figures such as this one which were made in large numbers and distributed as fertility charms. This antique Burmese betel nut box contains matching serving tray and 4 small containers. The side of the box is circled with an excellent example of the Burmese schwezawa technique of gold leaf in a striking swirling chu-pan foliage design. The top has a lively chinthe, a traditional Burmese stylized "lion" figure with a vine and leaf foliage border.
