A large antique Meiji period Kutani plate decorated with motifs of peonies set in the center of the plate surrounded by gold scrolling vines and stylized flowers. The pink peonies are done in an unglazed-like style while the blue peonies are done with glaze. The underside of the plate is decorated with scrolling vines set in a green background. Additionally, the center of the back contains the inscription, Dai Nippon Kutani sei, or produced by Dai Nippon Kutani...

Chinese yellow soapstone scholar's seal. The stone is carved with scenes of sages and their attendant with landscape ground of mountains, pine trees, and bamboo. The reverse is also carved with a man seated at the edge of water, his finger pointing towards the mountains where a temple roof is partially unobscured. The seal on the base of the soapstone reads "a virtue should be praised".

This is a thinly potted bowl depicting the Buddhist's eight auspicious signs which is found on the sole of Buddha's feet. They are the mystic knot, fish, wheel of the law, lotus, canopy, unbrella, conch shell and the jar. The bowl stand on a short recessed foot-rim and into a U-shaped body. At the base of foot-rim, it has the honorific four character seal mark of Qianglong reign. Cir. second half 19th century, possibly from Tongzhi period.

Japanese lacquer tray with raised gold cranes on top a hill under a large meandering pine tree along with smaller trees and grasses on a large expanse of nashiji lacquer with gold maki-e edges. The underside is performed in a darker sprinkled lacquer and has some chipping to the bottom outer edges, although the face of the tray is good with only some light surface wear. Measures 21.25" long, 15.25" wide, and 2.25" high. Dates circa 1900.

Description:
A Longquan bowl was mold in decent Bo(elm bowl) shape.
It was applied on the surface with celadon bean-green glaze and was uniquely carved with willow leaves (Liutiao) patterns for decoration.
The darken firing tint was yielded at the bottom from where the body clay was revealed.
Foggy-look condition was observed in the glaze.
A Yaozhou bowl in the documentation was in the same willow leaves patterns.

19th century Japanese raku ceramic box for use in tea ceremony potted and painted to represent yuzu citron with leaves. Could serve as chaire (tea caddy for powdered tea) or kogo (box for incense). Wonderful hand potting, excellent depiction of fruit skin texture. Stamped with RAKU character on the body by the foot. Comes with newer kiriwood box and wrapping cloth. Very pleasant feel of age, well-used, in great condition. Diameter 3 1/4 inches, height with cover 2 5/8 inches.
