Japanese late Meiji to Taisho period Tokyo style rectangular naga hibachi with beautiful zelkova (keyaki) wood grain. Five storage drawers on the front have copper warabite handles. A removable rectangular wood insert is placed over the fire container which contains an original copper liner with nice patina. Two inset carrying handles are at the sides. Early 20th century. A small, low, Chinese table that was used on the Kang for eating, reading, writing, etc. The table has been decorated on all sides and on the legs with fax bamboo carvings. The table is made of hongmu, a tropical hard wood, that was very popular in the 19th Century. The table measures about 29 1/2" long x 10 3/4" tall x 16" wide, and dates to the Quangxu Period (1875-1908)...

The hardware is made of iron and features beautiful lock plates in the form of scrolling vines with a chrysanthemum mon in the center and warabite drawer pulls...

An antique Japanese Gifu Mizuya (kitchen chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) with Kakinoki (Persimmon) wood drawer fronts and sliding door panels. All original bronze hand made hardware including handwoven bronze screen wire on the bottom sliding doors. Also, original etched glass on the center sliding doors. Small lift out door covers an additional storage area.

A nicely carved very light pale celadon jade monkey on a bamboo swing that would make a nice pendant. This monkey is very life-like with a lot of character representing the year of the monkey. Size: H. 4cm. W. 3.2cm. Condition: Perfect.

A rare antique Japanese Kasane (stacking chest on chest) Tansu made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Original Urushi lacquer finish and hand made iron hardware. Double side by side upper drawer design sometimes considered the matriarch pattern among Sendai Tansu collectors. Beautifully poised Shishi or Botan (Peony) motif on all of the lock plates with unusual scalloped cast framing surrounding each image. Warabite handles with incised Chrysanthemums along the bottoms of each...

Description:

A soapstone carving was nicely rendered to depict the grapes and vines.
Nice Qingtien stone in yellowish green tint was finished as a display item on the desk when the back side was flat and plain.

Date: 1910-1930.

Width: 16.5cm. Condition: Some defects to the rims, but not noticeable.
The hue was a bit light than in the pictures.

A charming little blue and white Chinese water dropper in excellent condition without hairlines or restoration. Circa 1900-10, it measures 2 inches high.

Meiji / Taisho (1910s) lacquered wood kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony), its top decorated with low relief depiction of an elephant, its trunk raised. Very nice object in Japanese taste, multilayered differently colored lacquer, two parts fit perfectly, beautiful surfaces, in excellent condition. Diameter 2.2 inches.

Ge yao vaser from Qing Period or early republic era

An antique statue of the lucky goddess He Xiangu holding a lotus, carved from a large bamboo piece with nice patina. One of the eight immortals of the Chinese Taoist pantheon. Condition: a small chip near the hem. Dimension: c. 35.8 cm high. Please compare to item # 1434476, item #1435291 and item #1435015 for another carving of the same group.

Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period rectangular form porcelain plaque painted in famille rose enamels and gilt highlights with a crane on a pine branch above thick leafy flowers. A poem at the upper left is dated in Chinese cycle years to winter of 1902 and signed Jiang Yongyuan (active circa 1899-1919) at Zhushan, a district of Jingdezhen. A raised rim frames the composition. 15 1/4" long by 9 1/4" wide by 7/8” deep. There is a fine old brown hairline crack extending down from the top...

A rare and beautifully built silver inlaid zitan wood tray with silver frame/base. The inlaid picture depicting four geese playing at a reed marsh. Late Qing Dynasty.
