Rare Antique Onggi Medicinal Pot and Cover from Gyeonggi Province, with a beautiful deep, dark brown color. This pot is formed from two halves, a bottom half and a top half, that are put together to form this striking and unusual shape, with a ridged seam around the circumference of the pot. The clay is rich in iron and the glaze is made from clay mixed with wood ash and a little raw lead. The result is a rich dark chocolate brown. A beautifully gold accented imari small dish from old Japan, detailed and profusely decorated with tendrils and flora with a well painted mythical Kylin; the contrast is simply stunning and well defined, condition is excellent and the enamels well preserved, minor glaze imperfection on the backside, but hardly worth mentioning save for accuracy sake, we date this beauty to the Meiji period pre-1900. Measurements: 10.16 cm diameter (4 inches)

Dr Fu Qing Zhu "published" his book on Women's Health Issues in 1816. Originally hand copied until the 1860's, publications after that were made using hand carved woodblocks. This particular copy appears to be from 1885. It has all 4 volumes and the original cloth binding cover. There are hand written prescriptions on the front of 2 volumes...

This late 19th century Japanese small cloisonn¨¦ vase is 3 ½ inches tall and 2 1/8 inches wide. It carries a chrysanthemum and butterfly design on a black and goldstone background. It is in good condition.

Chinese snuff bottle made of 2 color overlay red on translucent peking glass. Of a flattened globe form, with a tapered neck with jadeite stopper. This bottle has hand-carved red peking glass figures of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals.

Chinese Qing dynasty low circular form porcelain brush washer covered overall in a monochrome oxblood red glaze holding a partly submerged moulded recumbent water buffalo at the center. A brown wash was applied to the low flat foot and slightly recessed base. 7 3/4" diameter x 2” high. 18th/19th century. A few thin glaze losses in the bottom reveal the white porcelain body. A small production flaw to one horn looks like a chip but appears to be glazed over...

This heavy wooden pillow was hand carved from a block of hard wood. A relic of the Qing dynasty during the 1800's, it would have been used more as a head rest, i.e. supporting the back of the neck so that the hair style remained undisturbed. It is carved into a series of graceful curved forms and the finish has a wonderful pattern of wear and patina. 11.5 inches x 4 x 3.25 weight 2 lbs

This pair of early 20th century Famille Verte plates are 1 inch deep and 8 ½ inches in diameter. They depict two ladies in a garden. One lady is dressed in green and is holding a fan; the other lady is in pink and is holding a round mirror. The outer rim is decorated with pink mums and a green brocade pattern. A dish of square form with slightly upturned corners decorated with a central motif of a Shochikubai mon. Here an interwoven symmetrical arrangement of the three elements of the Three Friends of Winter, rather than the more common ring format. This style of shochiku-mon appears to date from the Kyoho to the Horeki era. The remainder of the dish decorated with stylised dragons set against a ground of lightening and auspicious clouds and cash...

Very rare Japanese comic demon Buaku Kyogen mask dating from the early Edo Period, the golden age of Noh Drama. The Buaku mask is a Kyogen version of the Noh Beshimi character. Kyogen were short, humorous skits performed between Noh acts to lighten the mood. The heavily knit brows and wide leering grimace are wonderful characteristics of this mask.
