It was carved by a late Meiji period (1868~1911) artist Tozan (東山). It depicts a smiling wood cutter taking a break and tying his straw sandal lace. A sparrow is resting on his straw hat. It is 6 1/5" high, 3 7/16" wide (from the bottom) and 3" thick (from the bottom). Aside from two hair line cracks; one on his back head and one on the bottom, it is in great condition.

1900's Chinese Paktong White Copper Enamel Hand Warmer

It is 5.9 inches (15 cm) tall measured with handle up and 3.9 inches (10 cm) tall measured with handle down by 6.3 inches (16 cm) wide. It is 2 Lb.

It has a drilled hole at the side of the body, missing enamels, tarnished metal, oxidations, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

There are a total of eight signs, each with a different "saying" having to do with well wishes. Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. Museum quality Edo Period C.1860 zen temple mizubachi. Lost wax cast with a great dragon spout in grand detail and spectacular shishi mythical lion ornament on the top of the lid. The diaper motif on the base is in raised relief and equally spectacular. The spigot on the dragon head is permanent so we are assuming that there was a constant water flow. Antique Japanese cylindrical hibachi made of bent suginoki (cryptomeria) and decorated with a maki-e lacquer scene of a family of chickens in a bamboo grove. The mother hen and two chicks look for food on the ground while their father rooster looks back at his third little chick. Bamboo details are made of inlaid shell and the background is flecked in gold. With a copper insert.
