A Rare Chinese ‘SHEN DE TANG BO GU ZHI’ Bowl, 16th ~ 17th Century
A fine and large porcelain bowl with a brown glaze draining from the mouth and leaving the rim with an attractive white line showing off the foliate edge. Within the foot-rim can be found the six-character mark shen de tang bo gu zhi, which may be translated, 'Antique made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue'. Hard to find nowadays: slightly distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl from the early Edo Period with a rounded brim, made of little iron bearing, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part around the foot ring.
The whole body was decorated with wide white parallel lines in a white engobe over which a thin line in iron oxide was drawn, over which finally transparent ash glaze was applied - really stunning...

Late Ming Dynasty, ca. 1600
Glazed with turquoise, amber and green enamels, this laughing Buddha holds his large belly with one hand, and clasps a rosary in the other. The back is unglazed and a stabilized hairline extends from the foot to the top of the base. There is a collection inventory number incised on the rear base and there is a small chip to the foot. It is accompanied by a later carved wooden base.

A moulded rinka-gata form dish decorated in underglaze blue with additional enamels in the so-called Kakiemon palette. The outer register painted in underglaze blue with repeating pattern of a landscape with small weathered rocks from which grow auspicious Pomegranates and Peonies. The centre painted with a Chrysanthemum spray. The reverse painted with a simple Karakusa scroll and a six character mark for the Ming Emperor Chenghua...

This wine cup is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with three yin yang symbols on the exterior and also one on the interior base. It is raised on a low unglazed footring showing the white paste. The base is glazed and has a hastily painted mark. The overall condition is very good, without chips or repairs. It was recovered from a shipwreck site in Southeast Asia. A small circular table likely made as a stand for an incense burner or suiban basin dating from the Muromachi era (late 14th to 16th century ) covered in black lacquer over which has been applied vermillion in the style known as Negoro. About the center a ring of wood grain is typical of the era. It is supported by three curling feet extending from a billowing diaper. In good condition. The rim is not evenly round around the edges. On mark on the outer base of the bowl from the production process.

An perfectly potted porcelain bowl, decorated in underglaze Cobalt blue with an very nice clouds-decor. The tone of the Cobalt blue is very attractive and the glaze of this bowl is simply perfect. Ming Dynasty, Wanli period ( 1522 - 1620 ). Diameter: 11,9 cm. H: 6,8 cm. Condition : Perfect with a nice "ping-tone" when tapped.
17th Century Vajravarahi Tibetan Thangka. Fine Antique Tibetan Thangka of the Sakti of Samvara, Vajravarahi (Tibetan: Hod-zer Chan-ma), Goddess of War and Victory, with a necklace of skulls, a staff of skulls, a skull bowl, and a crown of skulls. She is dancing on a lifeless body surrounded by a mandorla of flames. Most of these thangka were photographed through glass frames, so there may be a little blurriness. This thankga was in an exhibition at the University of Texas Art Museum...

Featuring a baluster shaped body, rising from a splayed foot to a long cylindrical neck and is decorated with a central three-clawed dragon, chasing a flaming pearl, bordered by encircling lappets and a mountain peak opposite a vegetal growth, below two cranes on opposite sides of its neck. Its splayed foot is decorated with an encircling fish motif in underglaze blue and its base is fully glazed, except for the foot-ring...
Diameter approximately 32 cm.
There are some hairlines. There is no repair.

The model for the decoratin of this bowl were the decoration of one of the most prominent Imperial so called " Palace Bowls ". ( Please have a look at the last image )

A rare Ming dynasty over glaze enamel chicken shape water dropper, good condition small chip at the rim touch up covered, please see picture for detail, size: 11 cm wide head to tail, 8.5 cm height.
Height approximately 20.5 cm. This is glued between trumpet section and the vase body. There is added color to the connection line only, others are not there. Conditions as in the pictures. More pictures are available.
