This 19th century blue and white moon flask with handles is 12” high, 8” wide and 3 ½” thick. It depicts two lions (Shi Zhi) surround by clouds playing with balls. There is a Kang Xi honorable mark on the bottom. Aside from one small chip on the handle, small hairline cracks on the bottom and a few flaws from firing, it is in good condition.

This finely detailed Tibetan thank of a seated Buddha sitting on a lotus pedestal holding a blue bowl that is emblematic of healing powers, and he is surrounded by the various jatakas, displaying the tales of the various stages of the Buddha's life starting with his birth, with white elephants and stylized lions, It is superbly painted in great detail with minerals and pigments on cloth, and beautifully framed with silk mat and gilt frame...

He comes with a costum wooden stand.

An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. Original wiped lacquer technique finish and hand made iron hardware. The lock knobs feature a Plum Blossom design and the design of the handles is a straight Gumbai. Sliding side by side doors open to a spacious area where once merchant books and records were stored.

A rare feature of this chest are the hidden compartments under the four bottom side by side drawers...

During the Qing dynasty, carved wood blocks were used to produce the ancestor portraits which decorated the homes of many Chinese families. The Chinese translation of the term "ancestor Portraits" can be misleading to Westerners. These were not portraits of the particular family's ancestors. They were portraits of various Chinese officials, emperor, empress, etc. for whom the family wished to show respect and or allegiance...

A very rare sample of Yuan dynasty blue and white anhua dragon large stem cup, rounded side with out turned rim and high foot, stem cup decorated with under glaze of large single dragon at exterior, inner rim with classic scroll and inner wall with anhua dragon motif beneath white glaze, stem cup excavated from Trowulan east java.
About 40% of the rim has been damage and light restored, no damage at lower part, very good sample of Yuan dynasty large stem cup, very good sample for anyone who...

Ancient censer, of circular shape, resting on three feet, decorated on all sides with dragons in relief "chasing the pearl" and, on two sides, with dragon heads. Bronze, fine green patina. Reign mark beneath, probably apocryphal (Ming Dynasty, Xuande reign). China, early 19th century. Height: 3 1/4" (8,5 cm). Diameter: 5 4/8" (14,5 cm). Very good condition.

Antique Chinese bitong (brush pot) made of boxwood (huangyang) burl. Beautifully gnarled surface. Foot and mouth made of carved ebonized rosewood.

Ancient mask, beautifully carved in heavy wood, with realistic features, representing the face of a snarling tiger. Wood, with remnants of the handpainted polychrome decoration. India, Gujarat or Maharashtra, Kukana tribes, early 20th century. Height: 27 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Old accident at lower jaw, very well restored locally. Acquired in 1974.

This is a clay figure of "Tenjin", the god of learning and a great and important figure in the history of Japanese culture.

It is obviously from the Mid Edo Period and one of the most impressing pieces of art in our collection with its mysterious and spiritual character.

Antique Japanese large tsuba (samurai sword hand guard). Cast in iron with an intentionally uneven surface to suggest a sandy beach or rock and further decorated with mixed metal inlay in the form of a variety of sea shells. Shakudo and gilt copper stand out against the dark iron. With collector's kiri wood box.
