A most superb work of Art of the Yuan Dynasty ( 1279 - 1368 ). If there would not be this extraordinary thick and smooth, best kind of Qingbai glaze this piece would assume to be a ordinary Yuan period covered box...

Well-potted brushpot with a very carefully painted dragon and fish design in a deep sepia-toned enamel that is slightly raised on the biscuit-fired background. Like the exterior, the interior is also unglazed. The base is slightly recessed and marked with a spurious six-character Xuande mark. This piece most likely dates to the Guangxu period, 1875-1908. Very good condition with no damages or restorations...

This is a child kimono of the Tohoku district of Edo period. This is Tsutsugaki where a face is very sharp. And it is very impressive with lining dyed in Akane. Generally, the dyeing madder-red was said to have been cut off early in the Edo era, but the dyeing madder-red was slightly handed down in the Hanawa area of the Akita area. And this lining was left. This is traditional Bugaku- clothes of the Edo era. This is the form that is traditional in silk twill fabrics. It has two extremely small holes. There are no stain and damage. The pattern is Ganryo- dyeing. It can be hardly exhibited at the market. Size 193cm x 186cm (75.9 "x 73.2")

A barbed form dish decorated in kakiwake style with a White Elephant and Chinese Boy. The design here is not the Confucian parable of Shun and the Elephants, but one that explores a Buddhist theme. The White Elephant in Buddhism is symbolic of mental strength achieved through the practice of the Dharma. This is a hydrangea pattern and a high technique of yuzen dye, and shadow and the color of the leaf are expressed boldly. It is the gem which does not exist in other tsutsugaki. It is a painting of wonderful yuzen dye. Tsutsugaki is done by a considerably exact technology. It is a wonderful masterpiece of Edo at latter term. A large dish decorated in reverse painted style, kakiwake, with a pair of Karako, Chinese boys, Shirasagi, White Egrets, and Chrysanthemums. The border painted with a narrow band of shippo against a blue ground, and the reverse of the dish painted with a series of ten auspicious trigrams divided by zoomorphic motifs, perhaps intended to represent scroll dragons. A double square with a four character reign mark for the Xuande Emperor...

A hog mouthed beaker of conventional form decorated with Flowers of precious appearance or sometimes referred to as Tang Flowers, karahana. A six character Dai Min Seika nensei mark is painted within the foot-ring. The beaker is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. It measures 9.2cm in diameter and stands 6.2cm high. See Shibata Volume V no 231 for a beaker of different form but with an almost identical pattern. There dated c.1690-1720. Shipping at Cost.

A long dish of conventional form decorated in senbeki, pencilled, style with a pair of four toed Chinese Dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls all set against a lightening field. The central reserve decorated with stylised tadpole like thunder bolts. The reverse decorated with further lightening motifs and pearls. A small square seal mark containing the character Ho, precious treasure...

A rare Qing dynasty 18th century Jiaqing mark and period underglaze blue and copper red large peach motif bowl, decorated with three period of peach motif at the exterior, inner center with flower motif, bowl is in good condition with small glaze nick at outer rim (please see piture detail), good high ping sound with finger tip, base with six character Jiaqing reign and of the period.

Japanese candy apple red under-kimono with a simple, yet beautiful shibori style design of flowers. Shibori is a method of fabric dying in which bits of cloth are tied, sewn, folded, twisted, etc. to create patterns, similar to the Western method of tie-dye. It is lined with red cotton and has a white cotton collar and sleeves. Taisho period (1912-1925) Size: 46.75" height, 45" width
