A rare Japanese Fushimi clay sculpture of a Sino-Japanese War soldier. Fushimi Clay Dolls were painted dolls made of unglazed ceramic that were sold in front of the gate to Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine, starting in the 16th Century at the end of the Momoyama period. They are also called Fukakusa Dolls or Inari Dolls. A charming example of Japanese folk art of the Meiji Period. An important find for the folk art collector. 10 inches, 25.5 cm.

Japanese iron teapot, or tetsubin, all hand-cast iron in the shape of a Japanese house. The teapot is adorned with leaves and gourds on a thatched roof.

A pair of antique Chinese blue and white Porcelain Dragon vases Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.) of baluster form with a flared neck, made of excellent quality semi-transparent white porcelain.

Each is decorated with a finely painted underglaze in a vibrant tone of cobalt blue, with a five-clawed scaly dragon amidst flames and the clouds.

The lower parts near the base are painted with foaming waves and rocks. One of the vases has an Qiulong horned dragon painted above foaming waves...

Hard porcelain dish from the Arita kilns. Decor painted in cobalt blue underglaze high-fire. A couple of fallow deer are represented in an autumnal landscape. It would seem that the female is reluctant to fall mating because she is lying down while the male at her side rears up desperately to attract attention. In the background clouds (erotic symbol of the "game of clouds and rain") and a maple tree for autumn. On the right a weeping willow tree symbol of lovers...

Found in the Philippines. Featuring a globular body, tapering to its shoulders to a flared mouth with a short curved spout, opposite its curved handle and is covered overall in a pale green celadon glaze. Its base is fully glazed, except for the foot-ring. Entirely carved from one piece of wood, the sculpted figure depicting a bare breasted regal woman, seated on a stool, with upraised arms, an arched back, and a strong neck, gracefully supporting and balancing a drum on her head.

Antique Chinese blue and white porcelain snuff bottle with very small and intricate scenic painting with a young man and his wife holding their child, standing in a garden. The artist would have started with a plain white base, painted his design with a mixture of finely ground cobalt oxide and water, and then used a transparent glaze all over. The bottle has a topper made of Jade. 19th century Size: 2.6" tall, 1" wide

A Chinese, Jizhou kiln, bowl with an abstract ash-splashed decoration to the interior. Southern Song; C12-13th. The variagated, brown glaze stops above the well-cutt foot, exposing the pale-buff coloured paste. Diameter, 11 cm. Provenance: from the deceased estate of a North Yorkshire collector; acquired in China in the first half of the C20th. Condition: There is an old area of repair to the inner rim; approx 2 cm long...
