A late Ming - Transitional Wanli - Tiangqi blue and white large jar, rounded side with globular body and glazed base, jar decorated with good underglaze blue of bird butterfly flower and landscape motif, jar is in good condition no damage no chip no crack no restoration, small glaze fritt at the rim, size: 22.5 cm height.

A large and deep porcelain charger, excellently potted, excellently decorated in an most beautiful cobalt blue with an Kraak-design. The base marked in underglaze blue. Japanese Arita ware, 17th century. Diameter: 39,6 cm. Condition: Perfect.

The decoration of a Dragon is at all rare to find on Ming Dynasty Minyao blue and white pieces. Still much rarer to find is such a Dragon bowl in a large and perfect condition like it is this bowl. Ming Jiajing period ( 1522 - 1566 ) Diameter : 17,9 cm. Condition : Perfect - there is just some very minute glaze fritting to the rim, but this is without a magnifying glass nearly invisible and absolutely normal for pieces of that period.

Circa 1680, this is one of the earliest examples of a Kakiemon sake bottle, rectangular in shape, 10.625" in height. Decorated in iron-red, yellow, green, aubergine, and black enamel, the four sides portray pine, bamboo, plum blossoms and peonies among clouds, with sprays of stylized lotus and scrolling karasuka upon the shoulders.

Condition: Early gold lacquer repair and cracks.

A marked, very fragile, well potted bowl and since this piece fortunately does not comes from the sea resp. from a ship wreck the condition of the glaze and therefore also the Cobalt blue of this piece is very nice. Ming Dynasty Jiajing period ( 1522 - 1566 ) Jingdezhen ware. Diameter : 10,2 cm. H : 5,3 cm. Condition : Very good with a wonderful bell like sound when tapped. Some very minute glaze fritting to the rim.

A finely painted Kakiemon dish of scalloped form painted in under-glaze blue with a pair of auspicious Hoo birds amongst clouds, harbingers of good fortune, with stylised Peony branches. The reverse painted with a classic lotus scroll and a square fuku seal. Dating circa 1680-1700 and a product of the Kama-no Tsuji (Kakiemon) kiln in the Nangawara valley, note the fine pin point spurs and carefully trimmed footrim. A Rare Chinese ‘SHEN DE TANG BO GU ZHI’ Bowl, 16th ~ 17th Century

A fine and large porcelain bowl with a brown glaze draining from the mouth and leaving the rim with an attractive white line showing off the foliate edge. Within the foot-rim can be found the six-character mark shen de tang bo gu zhi, which may be translated, 'Antique made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue'. The plate is decorated in late Ming Kraak “fuyo-de” style with a pattern of alternating panels of flowers, Chrysanthemums and Camellias, with Precious objects, interspersed with pendant Lozenge motifs. The central mikomi framed by a narrow atypical floral band depicts an oversized figure holding a rod standing upon a bridge with two oxen set in a classic Chinese “sansui” landscape’...

A 12.75" late 17th century Kakiemon vase and cover decorated in iron-red, green, yellow and black enamels on underglaze blue, the body with a profusion of chrysanthemum, peony and cherry blossoms and foliage emerging from rockwork, the shoulder with alternate bands of lappets, hanabishi and karakusa, the neck and the foot with a continuous band of lappets, the cover similarly decorated.

A beautifully formed bowl in the typical Gohon style, produced in Korea for the Japanese market during the 17th century. The light-grey ash glaze makes a tasteful backdrop for the pinkish speckles decorating the surface. These patterns are formed through a reaction of the iron in the clay and the ash glaze and are very typical of this type of pottery. One edge of the bowl is furnished with a dimple, making it comfortable in the hand while the gold repairs give it an added beauty and depth...

This is an awesome Gunto Imperial Japan Military Katana Sword in Black Koshirae fitting, made during the Showa period (1926-1989), by the Gunto swordsmith KANEHARU 兼玄: (Index of Japanese Swordsmiths by Markus Sesko), from the Seki School (Modern Japanese Swords and Swordsmiths, by Leon and Hiropo Kapp). The sword's nakago has been marked as shown in the photos. The blade has a bright and clean polish, and it is in excellent condition...

Very rare lacquered wooden box, inlay of the "hundred precious items" type. The decoration represents sages and animals in a landscape, antiquity and friezes of stylized dragons. The inlays are mainly in mother-of-pearl, but also in stone, steatite and above all a superb lapis lazuli of a rare blue stained with green, details are in sculpted cinnabar lacquer and also inlaid, others are in tinted bone and horn, and finally details are painted with gold powder. Chinese work from the Ming period...

A fine Arita sometsuke fish shaped dish carefully modelled in the form of a Carp, koi-gata o-sara dating to the late 17C. See “The Trakatori Collection” Kyushu Museum 2020 for a set of similar dishes there dated 1670-1690’s. This example probably dates from the 1690’s, the Genroku era...

Wan shaped tea bowl made of light, refined and soft Mino clay, which contains a little iron oxide. The fastly but expertly thrown body inside and outside, with the exception of the bottom (including the finely thrown foot ring) is covered with a transparent ash glaze, which turned to yellow due to the iron oxide in the clay.

In two areas at the rim are highlights in green copper oxide in the tradition of the Mino Ki-Seto...

Wonderful early sculpture, depicting a Chinese saint or deity. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). H. 35 cm. Condition: expected age wear.

Early 17th century (Edo Period 1603-1868) distorted shoe shaped (tsutsugata) white Shino Chawan with a rounded brim, made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in the lower part of the body and around the foot ring.

This bowl was covered with a white Shino type of ash glaze. Under the transparent glaze two young pine tries were painted in iron oxide...
