Antique Japanese tansu chest, made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. The tansu has four large drawers, the bottom two of which are locked with a vertical locking bar also made of kiri wood. The two top drawers have wonderful large iron lock plates in the shape of peony flowers with raised flower buds. The corners of each drawer are reinforced with chrysanthemum shaped ironwork. An eye catching 19th century Chinese porcelain apple-green monochrome vase, Ching Dynasty, unmarked, of baluster form, flared lip, crackled glaze; Mint condition; Size: 12"H x 5" W.
Late 1800s
Glazed on the biscuit with green, yellow and brown enamels. On the base are three unglazed spots on which the piece was fired. Stopper in the form of bat, handle in form of stem and spout in the form of blossom. Very good condition with only minor construction flaws glazed over in the firing.

Antique Japanese small ko tansu for personal use. Made of kiri (paulownia) wood with iron hardware. Three large drawers and a small safe box in the lower right hand corner. Inside the safe box are two small drawers. Iron hardware includes round lock plates, warabite shaped drawer pulls, and corner bracing.

An amusing netsuke form model of a mischievous monkey dressed as a Manzai dancer based on an Ivory model of the late Edo period. The figure is crisply modelled, the head partially bisque with cobalt blue and iron brown glaze applied to the head dress and flowing robes. The upper portion has three large full-width drawers held into place with a locking bar. The lower portion has two medium sized drawers held in place with another matching locking bar. "Bun-in" is the last kiln for Joseon court.
And there, high quality and sophisticated works were made.
The chamfered vase is very rare on late Joseon.
This piece is seemed to be made at a folk kiln in Bun-in.
