A nicely carved Chinese nephrite pendant in a "Pixiu" shape. The nephrite is of very nice quality. There are some russet and dark intrusions mainly on one side of the pendant, this hints that the original material could be part of a jade pebble. We date the pendant to be early 20th century. An exquisite dark bronze image of the deity Benzaiten playing a four stringed lute known as a Biwa signed in a cartouche inset into the base and dating from the early 20th century (Later Meiji to taisho period). The figure is 20 x 16 x 18 cm (8 x 6 x 7 inches) and is in excellent condition.

This is Sashiko used for a martial artist of the Taisho era. This is a natural indigo plant, and Kinari--colored lining cotton is put on the cotton of a dyed face. And it is done Sashiko. As for this, thick cotton cloth is performed Sashiko of by the white cotton thread of the W thread. Therefore it is very thick. This does not have a stain and damage. Antique Japanese bronze Bishamonten or guardian. Taisho period, 1912-1926. The Bishamonten is the protector of Buddhism, distributor of treasures and wealth and protector of warriors. He is the Shitenno guardian of the north, of riches and scourger of evil doers, and healer of illness. The Shitenno are the four heavenly guardians that protect the Buddha and his attendants. There is a seal on the base reading Nobu. It measures 38" tall.

Chinese blanc de chine porcelain statue of Quan Yin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. Her name is short for Guanshiyin, meaning "Observing the Cries of the World." She stands upon strong, rolling winds and holds a lotus flower in her left hand. This beautiful bronze zen temple gong was made by one of Japan's great bronze craftsman who lived from The Meiji Period (1868) through the Showa Period. Famous for the gold shachihoko bronze fish on the roof of Nagoya Castle. This gong is dated Taisho 3 (Ca.1915). The writing has the date, the maker's name and all the donors' names. Excellent condition. H:56cm; diameter 30cm.

A set of Fred Harvey silver coffee pot and creamer. Early-mid twentieth century. The coffee pot has an embossed sunburst design on the side, and a working hinged lid. Each item is engraved on the bottom: the coffee pot reads, "Fred Harvey; International Silver Co.; 09-01; 48 oz; 71 [boxed in]", the creamer reads, "International Silver Co.; Fred Harvey; 89 004 1 08; 74 [boxed in]". Beautifully hand carved jade pendant of the mystical fenghuang, or phoenix, with a blooming lotus beside it. The fenghuang symbolizes the union of yin and yang, and each part of its body represents a different word: its head is for virtue, wings are duty, back is propriety, abdomen for credibility, and chest for mercy. Antique Japanese maiwai, katazome stencil dye on cotton, padded and in excellent condition, 51"(4'2") x 51", circa Meiji (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926). This maiwai is old but has been well maintained, pretty clean condition without any odor. One damaged area (did not go through to the liner) was repaired with very small stitches (photo #9). The photo #10 shows the area before it was repaired with stitches and filled with red color...
