A large and very attractive vase by Taizan, delicately painted in coloured enamels and gilding with two continuous fields of decoration, the neck with irises above a cloud band of floral trellis pattern, a swathe of scrolling foliage between formal borders. An ancient Jemdet Nasr cylinder seal from the famous Erlenmeyer collection.
This is a typical Jemdet Nasr cylinder seal of the "seated women“ or „pigtailed“ group and are often made of red or pinkish limestone. The amulet was bought from Galerie Günter Puhze and will come with their CoA.

A set of five Japanese porcelain bowls of tapering square form, the corners with shallow concave chamfers, decorated with alternating panels of flowers and Ho-0 birds.

Each base has a ‘Fuki Choshun’ four-character mark in underglaze blue.

Two similar bowls are illustrated in the Catalogue of the Shibata Collection, #2673 and #2674. Dated to 1690~1730.

Portrait of ancestor. Painting on paper representing a noble lady. The style of the furniture and its quality suggest that it is an important wealthy family of the 18th century, without however being of the imperial family because the dragons represented on the dress have only 4 claws. The face is admirably painted, the artist played with the light to give us this living-dead head and yet it is beautiful without anything macabre. China circa 1800...

A Lushan ewer pot from Tang Dynasty(8th century). 唐魯山窯執壺

The dish is shaped in the form of a folded paper letter. Unusually it is decorated with a stenciled design of what appears to be a formal pattern of lightning behind an arrangement of stylised flowers. The back is simply decorated with pine needles.

Two dishes of very similar shape are illustrated in the Catalogue of the Shibata Collection, items 2604 and 2635, dated to 1690 ~ 1730.

Rectangular Japanese lidded box with superbly crafted gold nashiji maki-e lacquer having wonderful raised gold birds. An absolutely lovely large terracotta head of a female deity, perhaps Aphrodite/Venus, Hellenistic or early Roman, 2nd. century BC-1st. cent AD.

The unusual head is not hollowcast but solid and done in the fine Hellenistic or early Roman style. She is tilting her head slightly to her left and has an elaborate headdress.

Very interesting Roman pottery oil lamp with a Roman empress or high born lady on the discus, ca. mid 2nd. century AD.

An impressive bronze rain drum, weighing 16 kilograms, Dong Son culture, 1st. millenium AD.

The drum is very early and perhaps even ancient and is without the later frogs etc. seen on the drums of the Karen tribe. 2 handles in each side.
