Pendant of rectangular shape ending in a triangle on its top, with a loop for possible attachment to a necklace. The pendant is decorated with an embossed design of tribal style representing Hindu god Virabhadra standing with his four arms and weapons/attributes, and surrounded by a dotted aureola. Bronze, with fine reddish green patina. India, 18th century. Height: 5.3 cm. Very good condition.

Small pendant sea, of dome shape, with a delicately incised design representing the profile of Alexander The Great inside an oval frame. Bronze, with green and red patina. Bactria, ca. 300 B.C. Height of the dome: 1.2 cm. Height of the oval frame: 1.7 cm. Very good condition.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this choice ancient Holyland oil lamp. The lam remains intact with excellent color and form. The peak of the oil lamp features a figure that appears to be the head of a bird. The lamp measures 3.75" in length and 1.5" tall. 2nd - 1st Century B.C. Ex-McInnis collection.

Hinagata (sample book of hanten (short jacket) design which is wood-block print. Hinagata is a sample design book and it was for customers when they make orders. The designs are stencil-dyed in the back of hantens which were worn by workers such as shop clerks, fish market workers, firemen and so on. This book is a remake of the original book as the ground paper had many damages so that the original design hantens were cut out and pasted on Japanese paper and newly bound...

Covered box with a blue-and-white underglaze painting of geometric panels and a foliate center. A very similar example can be seen in the book “A Pocket Guide to Oriental Ceramics in the Philippines” page 80; plate 30 or exhibit 30. Measurements: height 4.5cm, width 6.5cm. Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BC. A large elaborate bronze cloak pin, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process with poppy flower shaped terminal.

Used to fasten clothes, in this case due to the unusually heavy fabric and decoration, likely leather for presentation use - perhaps for a very thick cape or leather armor...

This is natural indigo dyeing Shirusi-Hanten made at the beginning of the Meiji period. This gets texture and others by cotton and silk. As for this, cotton and silk are spun by hand. It is rare that Shirusi-Hanten is woven by cotton and silk. Most are only cotton. This has fading with several places of a few holes, but the state is good. This was sewed for a child again. Size 65cm x 103cm (25.5 "x40.5")

This is a very rare projectile point made from a stingray barb about 1000AD. It is 6 1/4 long. It was found in the Pacific Islands. It is translucent and very sharp. There is no damage or restoration. It has obvious rework. It is from the Dr. Raymond Thomas collection. I have only seen two of these in all my years of collecting. The other one was one of my most viewed artifacts on this site.

Old rattan/bamboo splitting knife used in basket making. The blade still carries a sharp edge and is still quite serviceable. L: 65cm/25.5 (blade is 18.5cm/7.5in). Good condition, the blade has some surface rust but is till sound and solid.

Japanese dish or bowl, Ko-Kutani revival from the Meiji period, late 19th century. Enameled in purple, yellow and green with a wave-line border surrounding a motif of poets (?) and a weeping willow in a mountainous seascape. Dark brown rim, the back with Kutani mark in green. Diameter "8 ½ / 21.5 cm. Condition: the back with some rubbing marks and a glaze bubble (cf. pics).

Small architectural ornament, carved in the shape of a Garuda, standing under a triangular platform with his wings open. Wood, fine dark patina. Nepal, 18th century, probably earlier. Height: 4 1/8" (10,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Old traces of woodworm work (no danger), large chip on right side of platform, otherwise good condition. Note: in Hindu religion, Garuda is a demigod, half man half eagle, who carries god Vishnu.

Small ceramic cup of celadon color, with crackled glazing. Incised lotus motif at its center. China, Ming Dynasty. Diameter: 11.5 cm. Height: 3.3 cm. Very good condition.

Beautiful Japanese patterned silk obi. Pre 1900. Size: 12.5" width x 93" length.

19th century Chinese silver hairpin with chased decoration of flowers, the leaves are enhanced with enamel, and with a Chinese hallmark of a Canton based workshop on the back. Made for Straits Chinese (known as Peranakan - persons of mixed Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage), lower grade silver, beautiful sharp work, some losses to enamel, overall in great condition. Length 3 7/8 inches.

Large medallion with a relief design on both sides, a galloping horse on the obverse and a scorpio surrounded by symbols on the reverse. Tin alloy, soil incrustations. Siam, Ayuthaya period15th to 18th century. Diameter: 6,7 cm. Good condition.
