Large and heavy antique Japanese Seto ware Kashiki (dessert) bowl made during Mid-Edo Period (1603-1868)

Seto pottery, dated as early as the 13th century, produced around Seto city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
It is also considered as one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.

Chogappo made of fragments of ramie which is recycled from old bast fiber, hemp or ramie and indigo dyed. Pojagi is the general name for the wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchworked with asa (choma or hemp) fragments. Antique Japanese small tansu with 5 drawers of various sizes. Made of kiri (paulownia) wood and still in it's original condition. Iron hardware includes hirute shaped drawer pulls and each drawer has a lock plate. The sides of the chest have a deep reddish lacquer finish. The deep patination is from hundreds of years of careful use.

This is a fragment from a Tibetan gilt copper mandorla, one of the side pieces that would have surrounded the central statue/figure. It measures 9-1/2" in height and is 3" at its widest point. The design, as the photos will show, is in four registers, with the Buddha uppermost. The workmanship is of excellent quality as, hopefully, the photos will confirm. There is a tiny split in the left edge so that the top panel could become detached if the piece were handled roughly...

A finely carved late- to Neo-Assyrian black stone cylinder seal, depicting running animal in a superb style and very high relief, above is star and crescent, mid-to late Assyrian.

Size: 25 mm. tall and 12 mm. wide.

Condition: Near extremely fine and glossy, the cracks in the imprint depicted, are not in the seal!
