A Japanese circular hand mirror decorated with a stylised representation of Penglai, Horai, island the principal elements of which are a pair of small birds in flight, stylised rocks with pine branches above stylised waves and a central Turtle, kame, form boss. The mirror is probably late Kamakura or Nambokucho in date, first half of the fourteenth century. The mirror measures approximately 10.7cm in diameter, and 0.7cm high at the rim, and the edge measures 3.75mm in width, and weighs 200gms...

A large and heavy porcelain vase with thick Sang-de-boeuf ('Ox-blood') glaze. On the base is incised the six character reign mark of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). We have been unable to decide whether this item was made during his reign (in the late Qing dynasty) or later during the Republic period (1912-1949. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration...

An interesting saddle bag possibly made from the hide of an ibex or mule like animal. The bag retains that rugged look used by the merchants who travelled across the Himalayas during the spring to Tibet and back bring goods from India to the Tibetan plateau. This mid 19th century, Tokyo School wood carved netsuke is 1 ¾” high, 7/8” wide and 3 /4” thick. It is not signed. It depicts a young boy wearing some kind of bib, holding his belly with both hands. It is in excellent condition.
