Antique Chinese bronze incensor with pair of peaches as lid. The body is incised with a commemorative message: indebtedness by the students, the giver of gifts, spring in the year of the dragon, one of a pair. Peaches are very important in chinese culture, they symbolize life, immortality, and good fortune. It has a hanging arm with a bat charm. It measures 20" tall with hanging arm, base 4" wide. 19th century, 1821-1850.

"For his residence, earth was piled to form a hill and a hundred plum trees, which along with lofty pines and tall bamboo comprise the friends of winter, were planted."

A fine and interesting bronze sculpture of a lady selling fish. The figure is holding a basket of fish with a humorous looking octopus wanting to jump out of the basket. Often during the Meiji period, figures from daily life such as sellers of various produce and products were created for the Euro-American market where the charm and simplicity appealed to collectors. Japanese antique 15 ken (plates) jingasa hat for a ashigaru foot soldier. Made of iron with large rivets and edged with oxidized silver. Comes with a custom metal stand. The samurai class in feudal Japan, as well as their retainers and footsoldiers (ashigaru), used several types of jingasa made from iron, copper, wood, paper, bamboo, or leather.

Chinese hand scroll portraying a hunting scene attributed to, Jin Tingbiao (~1767). Four hunters with four horses are gathered in this scene either preparing a hunting party or finishing one. Views of hunting, known as shoulie wenwutu were first seen from the Yuan dynasty and succeeding dynasties continued to paint various renditions. Comes in a beautifully carved box. These rare early 19th century ceramic bowls are 2 ½” high and 6” in diameter. They depict four mythical sea creatures resting on rocks surrounded by ocean waves. The background and inside are turquoise blue. There are red “Dao Guang” (1821~1850) marks on the bottoms. Some gold edging has rubbed off from the ribbed rims. Aside from this, they are in excellent condition.

Very large pot covered in cloisonné enamel on copper. Silver wires.Dragons Hoho and butterfly of curious design. I seem to remember the association dragon butterfly to a symbolic but I don't remember which one A slight accident really insignificant at the base of the lid catch that can be seen on photo and a lack of thickness of enamel that could not be polished being too thin, however at this place there the enamel completely covers the base metal...

This carved bamboo brush holder (BiTong) is an early 20th century product. It depicts five sages and two young servants surrounded by pine trees and rocks. It is 6 ½” high and 5”~ 5 ½” in diameter. The carving is elegant and quite deep. Aside from some cracks due to the age and nature of the bamboo, it is in excellent condition.

Tang dynasty jar covered with celadon green glaze, unglaze concave base. MEASUREMENT : 20 cm height, 25 cm wide. PERIOD : Tang Dynasty (618-906 AD) CONDITION: small chip on the base, no cracks or hairlines and free from restorations.

Chinese qing dynasty Jun type glazed jar. Good conditions. 15cm high.

Diameter approximately 22 cm. There are some cracks at the body. Ge-type inside the bowl. There are no missing parts.

The inlays are all made of the same dovetail technique. Decorated with Phoenixes in flight, Buddhist Lions, birds and stylized flowers...

A reversible leather firefighter's hanten 半纏 (heavier weight coat made popular in the 18th century). At this time in Japan, fireman were vollenters and carried other professions. In this case, The inside logo represents that the wearer would have been a high ranking carpenter for roof making.

Features tsutsugaki 筒描 (resist dying process) using the smoke of pine needles to produce the light patterns, and ink to dye the black side...

An expressive frightful yet humorous yamaneko cat (tiger) perched on a natural jagged boulder. Hand carved of boxwood with eye detailed in bone. Very well carved with fine details. An Okimono may be a small Japanese carving, similar to, but larger than netsuke. Unlike netsuke, which had a specific purpose, Okimono were purely decorative and were displayed in the tokonoma.

This is a japanese antique very rare Ramie( choma )child kimono used for edo in Kyoto. This is dyed in natural indigo plant and Benibana. This is colored the both sides into in Katozome. This hemp is spun by hand. This has five places of small stains, but does not stand out. There is no damage really. The state is complete. Size 123cmx 121cm (38.1 "x 38.9 ")
