This late 19th century Japanese gold lacquered tortoise shell box is 5 inches long, 2 ½ inches wide and 1 inch thick. On one side, it depicts an eagle resting on a plum tree and a sparrow flying over a river on the other side. The workmanship is precise and elegant. Except for a few tiny chips and scratches due to its age, it is in good condition.

19th century or earlier Japanese sword set of fuchi (bordering piece between the sword guard and the handle) and kashira (metal pommel at the end of the hilt of a sword) with bronze body and multimetal decoration of pine groves and a crane in flight on the background of Mount Fuji with snow capped summit and wispy clouds. Excellent sharp quality work, gold and silver inlays, in great condition. Kashira length 1.37 inches, fuchi length 1.5 inches.

A rare, antique Chinese Imperial court necklace presentation case. Gilt, red lacquered formed and stitched thin wood armature with carved or pressed fret pattern on sides and top also with auspicious symbols and characters conveying congratulations upon promotion. Diameter, about 7 5/8 inches (19.37 cm). Height, about 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm). Very good condition with tasteful and old conservation to small areas of lacquer and expected rubbing to gilt surface...

A Japanese ivory brush holder carved in bas-relief with festive characters dancing and playing next to an elephant dressed for special occasions. On the opposite side a large Japanese "Matsu" pine seems to cover and shade the entire scene. Chinese Tang dynasty (618-907 A.D.) brown glazed wine jar with cup decorated around the rim with two stylized opposing dragons. The cup rests upside down over the circular opening on top. The jar measures about 8 1/4" high to the top of the dragons. The cup is nearly 3” diameter. Very good overall condition with wear and glaze degradation consistent with its age and use. Significant burial dirt is adhering. There is a small old triangular-shaped repair to the edge of the cup...

A Large antique Korean faceted, ten sided, storage Jar with a matching lid. Such jars were a part of a Korean kitchen, and were used to store honey and molasses. The jar measures, with lid, about 9 3/4" high x 8 1/2" in diameter, and the mouth opening is 3 5/8" across. The lid appears to be original to the Jar. The Jar is in good condition. There are several chips on the underside of the lid, and around the mouth, and there is a 1/4" kiln crack on the mouth...

A small Chinese teapot, pumpkin shaped and ribbed. Decoration of garden rocks and flowers in underglaze blue, overglaze red and gilt. Late Kangxi / early 18th century. Width / 14.5 cm, height including lid "4/ 10 cm, width "5 ¾ / 14.5 cm. Condition: some glaze flakes to the lid and firing cracks to the knob (cf. pics).
