A large porcelain Jubaku consisting of four tiered containers with cover decorated with a karakusa ground in yellow and green enamels inset with auspicious figures of Chinese boys, karako, and reserves containing Peonies and rocks, traditional symbols of the arrival of Spring. At 24.5", this a most impressive piece of ginbari cloisonne. Over a ground of graduated blue, a flock of white doves flutters through masses of lilies.

Condition: Good for such a large piece of Meiji period ginbari. There is a discolored hairline extending most of the way around the upper rim, small oxidized areas, and other less obvious hairlines. None of these imperfections are overly obvious because of the size of the vase...
