A small Cizhou jar was applied on the surface with black glaze.
In fine shape, the jar was adapted with a newly made lacquer cap.

Lovely spherical Ge type crackleware glazed Qing jar with very light celadon tone. There are some chips and cracks so please view enlargements. Authentic antique Ge wares have become very rare in the past 20 years, I was lucky to find this one. H: 7.5cm/2.9in and D: 9cm/3.5in.

A protective deity is carved into this Piece of a pillar from Himeji Castle dating from the Meiji period restoration of the Tenshukaku (main tower). It is branded with the Yaki-in which reads Himeji Jo Ko-zai-in (Brand of the old wood from Himeji Castle). This is his Tsutsugaki item, which is impressive with its very surreal pine and bamboo designs drawn in Tsutsugaki during the Edo period. The young pine tree in the center of the picture is drawn in an unbelievably large and surreal manner, and the bamboo, which is also impossibly deformed, is drawn in the background. This is quite an unconventional item among the indigo-dyed items of the Edo period...

A handle surmounts the peak of this beautifully rendered vase by Myagawa (Makuzu) Kozan enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji-yu Sometsuke Te-oke-gata Kabin (Celadon Handled Bucket Shaped Vase with Blue and White Design). An interesting and nicely preserved cylinder seal in brown stone, Neo-Babylonian, 8th.-7th. century BC.

An iconographic scene of the Great Babylonian King and a high priest, both bearded and wearing long dresses, on either side of the alter of the Moon god Sin, probably in the version of local patron Nabu. Behind them in the field, we see the typical Neobabylonian temple or alter structures and above a Sun symbol.

Large Chinese famille jaune medallion bowl; shows three polychromed medallions of auspicious objects surrounded by lotus scrolls with a Shou character and Greek border; the reverse depicts three scrolled vignettes; Guangxu marks; good condition

Exceptional bronze applique of a head of Dionysos with ivy wreath and with silver inlaid eyes, probably a furniture fitting, Roman, 2nd - 3rd century AD.

Very high quality work for the period and a real conversation piece!

The cylinder seal is carved in fine white-beige stone, and can be dated to Mesopotamia, Late Jemdet Nasr period, c. 3000-2900 BC. (Collon, period 1B).

The impressive seal is carved with 4 horned animals in very deep relief all the way around the thick cylinder.

Size: 30 mm. tall and 24 mm. wide.

Condition: Very fine, intact with some wear and corrosion and quite attractive.

An unusual Edo period Oribe serving bowl, the color filled crackled glaze decorated with scrolling lines in iron and splashes of copper green. Both inside and out hash mars denote a bamboo fence with blossoms in the fore. A handle and raised architectural elements around the rim and rising to the mouth echo some western influence, possibly indicating original Christian use. An extremely rare scarab seal, carved as an Udjat eye in grey-brown steatite, Egypt, New Kingdom, c. 15th.-14th. cent.

The eye is carved with great artistry, to creat a perfect Udjat eye with fine details and on the base, three strong hieroglyphs of the Ankh for giving Life the Uraeus and erect Cobra and lastly the flat Sun-disc.

The Ureaeus was the symbol of the Godess Wadjet and was used as a sign of Royal authority associated with Pharaos and gods...

Interesting solid silver Encolpion cross with loop Early European, probably Lombard Kingdom, c. 7th.-8th. century.

The cross engraved with a standing nimbate figure holding a crucifix in his left hand, and on the reberse another small nimbate figure; No less than four Cross pattées, and the symbols of the Sun and the Moon on the reverse as well...

Very refined earthenware vase, from the Satsuma kilns, with polychrome enamels, presents a decoration of courtesans (bijin) and a child under a flowering tree with on one side, in the background, a cottage at the foot of a hill. At the base of the collar, the shoulder is covered with chrysanthemum flowers. A barely legible mark under the base in a red lacquer cartouche, partly covered by a collector's label, could be attributed to Fujan (?). Height: 15 cm. Period: Meiji (1868-1912) 19/20th.

Globular in shape, on a nashiji gold lacquer base, the decoration represents pines and bamboo in gold and black hira maki-e, hedatsu and kirigane of vegetation at the edge of a watercourse and stylized medallions of chrysanthemums. The interior is also in nashiji. Origin: Japan. Period: Edo (1603-1868) 19th century. Height: 5.5 cm.

Two Jubako stacking porcelain boxes enclosed in their unique wooden boxes which are both enclosed together in an additional outer wooden box for protection. According to the lid, the designs were by Kinoshita Itsuun and Uragami Gyokudo, and the pieces were made by Kawamoto Hansuke. Hansuke is considered the progenitor of porcelain production in Seto, and it was through an act of industrial espionage that he was able to bring the techniques, until then the secrets of the Kyushu potteries, to Seto...

This piece was made at the kiln in Henan pottery area. It is very popular to be called as "Henan tenmoku" which has black glaze with patterns of rusty glaze. The pattern tends to peel off because of overglaze, however this piece has patten clearly remained. Very rare pottery bowl and eclectic with Taoist imagery. This is made from a high fired light gray pottery, with traces of a white slip and depictions of musicians, dancers and “demon” masks. This is a funerary piece; the symbology suggests the transition from this world to the afterlife. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 5.2cm/2in. No cracks original pigments with some kiln warpage

Good Qing Dynasty, Chinese nephrite jade carving of a lotus seed pod. In Chinese culture this symbolizes fertility and a desire to have many children on another level the lotus reflects purity, strength and rebirth- as it rises from the mud and blooms into something beautiful. H: 3.5cm/1.4in and W: 4.2cm/1.6in x 3.1cm/1.3in. Good condition- no chips or cracks. 61grams.
