Edo Period Kyogen Theater Karura (Garuda) Mask, donated in the 19th Century by the prominent collector, Dr. C.G. Weld to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Karura is a mythical fire-breathing bird-human creature from Buddhist-Hinduist mythology. A fine and rare example. Wood with lacquer. 8 x 6.25 inches, 20.5 x 16 cm.
Large Antique African Tribal round bowl, hand carved from one piece of wood, with integral suspension loop and decorated with geometric design.
CONDITION: Signs of usage and wear, the wood with fine old natural dark patina, old cracks and chips, part of the side broken off, small white points and blotches from the wall paint.

19th century staghorn ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in a shape of Hyottoko (perplexed peasant) mask. Good design, nice wear, in great condition, signed HAKUSHO on the back. Diameter 9/16 inches. Wooden stand used for photography is not included.

A piece of Narumi-Kongata (also called Urumi-zome) cloth which is hand-spun cotton and dyed with vegetable indigo. Narumi-Kongata is one kind of katazome (stencil-resist-dye) imitating shibori. It had been produced from late Edo to Meiji period but not produced anymore. It has auspicious shrimp motif with intricate pattern which requires high dye and stencil making technique. This is a frame of 100 Columbia river gem points. There are 31 agatized petrified wood points. There are also 2 extremely rare glass points, one clear and one purple. There are 77 G-10s and the others are 9s with a couple of 8s. True G-10s are 1 in 10,000 points. Also included are the 5 Columbia river gem points that are listed on this site for $10,000 including the only precious opal point from Oregon known to exist. A large black serpentine cylinder seal, showing a horseman in infight with a rearing Bull and an eight-pointed star in the fields. Middle-assyrian, 14th - 10th century BC.
The scene is quite rare with the detailed horseman!

This is a small porcelain brush washer in the shape of a half persimmon with large scallop rim in mat gold colour. The interior is glazed in uneven turquoise colour. This is a late Qing dynasty piece probably of the early 20th century.
There is no crack, chip, glaze fritting, repair or restoration. There is only a minor firing fault as shown in picture no. 6 and minor bubble burst on one of the bud. Overall, it is in good condition...
Antique Ottoman Islamic leather wallet, 18th century, Turkey. The wallet is rectangular in shape with a flap opening. The light brown morocco leather is embroidered with trailing floral motifs in gilt silver thread. The flap is secured by two gilded filigree stylized rosette clasps. The back of the wallet is decorated with interlocked initials "BJ" amongst trailing floral motifs. On the inside, there are four internal pockets and three leather flaps with an elaborate tooled design...

The early 20th century celluloid netsuke is 2 1/8” in diameter and 5/8” thick. This kind of netsuke is called “Kagamibuta.” It is shaped like a Manju (round doughnut) but with a metal disc serving as a lid to a shallow bowl. The pressed silver alloy disc has a dragon design. It is in excellent condition.

Rare large pair of beautiful original Japanese bronze temple lanterns with gilt highlights. A Sasarindo crest on the section where the light would be placed; the Sasarindo is the bamboo leaves and gentian flowers crest of the Minamoto clan.
The doors are fully functional. Each lantern is made of 6 individual cast bronze sections. A pearl in a flame sits on top of each lantern. Two very intricate dragons wrap around the lanterns. There are abundant motifs of dragons, flames and clouds...
Large Colima Redware, Sitting Male Figure, without a phallus. 16" x 9" x 6" Ca. 200 B.C. to 500 A.D. Significant mineral deposits overall. Repairs to the upper head and facial areas, and pelvic region. Lower body incised lines, that appear to be pants. A very nice example.
An antique Chinese chest made of hardwood and featuring 2 side by side drawers with removable 2 doors and separator. Used as a side table, it has spacious storage space behind the doors. Original metal hardware.
