Carved from a jade-like hardstone (possibly serpentine). Rectangular form with a slightly raised grinding surface bordered by a narrow, raised perimeter with a carved depression for water at the top end. Very good condition with no cracks. There is some wear to the grinding surface and to the base. Old patina with old light soiling.

Arabic manuscript on vellum, inscriptions in Arabic and Persian in light brown ink, tabulated formulae of magical power. Ayat al-kursi, the Throne verse written within the loops, a lion with the rising sun emblem. Framed. 48 x 43 cm.

Chinese Dao Guang period (1821~1850) white porcelain bowl with blue ¡°SHOU¡± (longevity) on the outside and a plain turquoise glaze inside. The orange pattern on the rim has rubbed off slightly. It has been used as a brush washer. There is a Dao Guang seal mark on the bottom. It is 6 inches in diameter and 2 ½ inches tall. Good condition.

Artist signature and seal by Li Fang Yin (1696–1755), known as one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou. Inscription reads "Qianlong 8th Year, third month, Li, Fangying of Qingjiang". Group of three bronze rabbits with black patina, partially chiselled. Two rabbits resting on their four legs, the third trained on its hind legs. In Japanese, the hare and the rabbit are designated by a single word: usagi. The hare occupies an important place in Japanese legends and superstitions...

This late 19th century Chinese carved ivory doctor¡¯s lady is 4 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1 inch thick. Her right hand is leaning on her head and her left hand is resting on her chest. There is a dark line (the center of the tusk) running the length of her side. Her whole body has slightly yellowed due to the age of the piece. She is in excellent condition.

This 19th century Japanese ivory okimono is 4 ¾ inches high, 2 inches wide and 1 ½ inches deep. It depicts a hunter fighting a deer with a long spear. The impression of the hunter and the animal are realistic and wonderful. It is not signed. The tip of the spear has been broken. Aside from this and a few age cracks, it is in great condition.

A rare stacking Bento (picnic) box in the shape of a tea leaf storage jar decorated in a realistic fashion with black, silver and gold maki-e lacquer. It consists of four pieces, stacked they are 28 cm (11 inches) tall, and all are in excellent condition.

This late 19th century Chinese Famille Rose leaf shape tile is 9 ¾” long, 8 ¼” on the widest part and a quarter of an inch thick. It depicts Emperor Wusu wearing armor and holding his hands in front of his chest. Aside from one small chip on the rim, it is in great condition.

Geese and Reeds Painting (Noando) on fine silk mounted on luxurious gold silk by Yang Ki Hun aka Seokyeon (1843-1897) from Pyeongyang, signed Seokyeon. Yang Ki Hun's signature 'boneless' style (painting without outlines, using ink washes) beautifully captures light and shade. The literal meaning of 'noando' is reed and geese painting, but it is a play on words, as 'no' means both reed and old, and 'an' means both geese and comfort ('do' means painting)...

An unusually large size bronze rain drum from Laos, a Herger type three drum. Reference material “The Karen Bronze drum of Burma” by Richard M. Cooler. It has an unusual 3 frogs (twelve altogether) on top with a ten pointed star with continuing concentric circle and stamped designs. The side has three elephants and three snails representing water and fertility...

A quite large, thinly potted porcelain bowl. The decoration of a Daragon and a Phoenix brilliantly enameled in famille rose, iron red and gold. The execution of the decoration is done in an nearly imperial quality. Guangxu period with a six character iron red Qianlong Mark to the base. Diameter : 21 cm. H : 9,5 cm. Condition : Perfect with a very nice "ping" tone when tapped. The bowl shows an old paper label with an inventory Number.

Vase in fine Satsuma earthenware enamelled in Osaka in Yabu Meizan's workshop at the end of the 19th century around 1890. The decoration is compartmentalized in 4 cartouches and represents the 4 seasons. The landscapes are meticulously painted, the details are surprisingly elegant and realistic.
