Japanese antique small 6-panel screen painting of five cranes flying over waves as the sun rises in the distance. Painted in mineral colors with gold flecks on paper. Signature: Morifusa.

Extra Large Yixing teapot size : 31 cm wide from spout to handle. 20 cm body diameter. 18 cm high. Teapot has short hairlines at the upper rim and the lid. (please see on the pictures).

Sashiko stitched fabric. Tsutsugaki dyed cloth. Indigo background with red and white design. Two horizontal bands wrap around bottom of coat. Similar to reference work "Sumi Collection Hanten and Happi" coats on page 25. Used by firemen in late 19th century Japan to extinguish blazes. Hook and eye closure. Measures 49" sleeve to sleeve 49" long. Overall good condition, small wear on neck and side.

A Chinese Ge-type Censer. Diameter approximately 26.5 cm. It has a short hairline only 1.5 cm. In good condition.

Beautiful large Japanese antique scroll painting depicting a scene of Mt. Fuji with clouds and rural village below, leaves of the trees in the foreground are painted in Autumn colors, painted in sumi ink and light colors on paper, silk mounting. Regarding translation of calligraphy on scroll, the language formally states that this painting is respectfully given to a person (Sei in) from another person (Koō yoū ro)...

A finely painted water colour , with gold leaf overlay, depicting a scene from the 11th Century classic "The Tale of Genji" written by noblewoman and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu. This item was made in Japan in the 19th Century during either the late Edo or the Meiji period (1868-1911). Condition: there are small marks on the paper and some losses to the gold leaf which predate the framing of this picture during the 1920s or 1930s. Frame: 32.5cm (12.75 inches) wide; 29cm (11.4 inches) high...

Antique painting of a scene from one of the poems in the Kokin Wakashu or "Collection of Japanese Poems of Ancient and Modern Times", dated from the Heian period (794-1185 AD). It was invented and published by Emperor Uda and his son, Emperor Daigo in the year 905, and was compiled by four of their court poets: Ki no Tsurayuki, Ki no Tomonori, Oshikochi Mitsune, and Mibu no Tadamine...

Chinese small porcelain cup, eggshell thin body, raised on slightly recessed foot. The cup is enameled in motifs of grapes on coiled vines and peonies. The base with red 4 character seal.

This brush pot displays shallow carving with incising utilizing the natural “skin” of the bamboo to depict a scene of tortoise, cranes, and pine as a wish for longevity. The carver's name is incised beneath the pine tree. It is in good condition and has a nice patina. There is some wear to the interior from use. Acquired in London in the mid 1980s.

This is Kagura-screen used in Kanto area for the Meiji period(1895). As for this, cotton spun by hand is used. This is a pattern very happy that a crane flies over the sea glistening with the morning sun. As for this, Tsutsugaki where a crane flies boldly in the morning sun is impressive. This has damage and a stain of the aging in several places. And there are several places of small repair traces. And it is in an in total regular state. This was released by big Tsutsugaki collector of Tokyo...

Hand made more than hundred years ago in Iga, a small tow in the mountains of Mie prefecture, famous as the birthplace of Iga ninja.

Iga-yaki is a style of pottery where the ceramic is fired at high temperatures causing it to crystallize in a red hue, with brown-grey burn marks caused by log ashes, and the melting effect of the vidro (feldspatic glass)...

Rectangular kobako box in ivory with inlays of stones and mother-of-pearl according to the shibayama technique to represent insects. Combining this technique and the legs painted in the hollows of the ivory, the insects stand out and are highlighted by the play of volumes, materials and contrasts. Among them, there is a cricket, a firefly, a fly, a dragonfly, a ladybug and a butterfly...

Asa (hemp) cloth with tsutsugaki shrimp which is an auspicious motif. It symbolizes longevity showing that one can live long till having the waist bended. It is made of asa (hemp) and the wefts and warps are hand-plied. It is colored with pigments. 19th century. In good condition but has some wear, stains and indigo color faded parts. 90cm x 65cm

Statue of Guanyu, the general of Liu Bei, which was transformed into the famous Guangong, the Taoist God of War. Guanyu is shown here in full military garb, with helmet and armor, sitting on an elevated throne. Votive box at the back, still closed. Wood, with remnants of superimposed painting, lacquering and gilding. China, 19th century. Height: 24.7 cm. Painting and lacquering partly flaked, otherwise very good condition.
