Antique Japanese 2 section isho tansu (chest on chest for clothing), made of kiri (paulownia) wood. The top section has two large drawers and the bottom section has two drawers of different widths. The lower right hand corner has a hinged safe box door which opens to reveal two small interior drawers. Hardware is made of iron and includes square lock plates and square drawer pulls.

19th Century Korean Hat Box made entirely of Exotic Paulownia (Odong-namu) Wood. Paulownia is very desirable for collectors because of its beautiful wide grain, light weight, and fire and bug-resistant qualities. The paulownia used for this rare hat box is especially fine. A small serving bowl mukuzuke of wasted form with a scalloped rim decorated with an underglaze blue ground of scrolling vines with chrysanthemum leaves inset with reserves containing a pair of auspicious objects, an artemeisia leave and a cash or jewelled shippo, bound by ribbons. The border enamelled and gilded with a band of nindoumon karakusa, honey suckle or acanthus leaf arabesque...

Guangxu marks, 1875-1908

The exterior of each bowl is decorated with nine butterflies in flight in brilliant funcai enamels. The lower portion of the bowls just above the footring is encircled by a band of lappet panels, and below the rim of each is a Greek key band all in the same enamel palette. The interiors are undecorated, and glazed with the same even, white glaze as the exteriors. The bowls rest on a raised footring...

Two very bright famille jaune (yellow background) ginger jars. These stunning early 20th (C 1910-20) are in excellent condition and very rare to find in this palette, let alone an undamaged pair with lids. Very richly enameled. Condition is excellent without chips, hairlines, etc. Size: 9" high and 8.75 across at the widest.
