China, late Qing to Early Republic period, ca. 1900-1920. H. 19,5 cm.

Round, footed bowl-form base and tapering stepped lid are heavily cast in bronze and then finished by lathe-turning to enhance the concentric stepped pattern on the lid and the incised rings encircling the base. The bronze retains its natural patina from age and use. There are areas of reddish-brown and small patches or verdigris on the exterior. This late 19th century small Famille Rose brush holder is 4 ¼” tall and 2 ¾” in diameter. It depicts a young boy is trying to light fire crackers. An older girl is covering the ears of another frightened boy. The workmanship is simple and elegant. There is a maker’s mark on the bottom which reads “Xin Yuan Xuan made this.” It is in excellent condition.

This 19th century Chinese bamboo armrest is carved with calligraphy. The carver Zi Qing dedicated this to his friend Zi Zhen. It is 9 1/8 inches long and 2 inches wide. It is in very good condition.

This 19th century deeply-carved small boxwood root brush holder (Bi Tong) is 5 ¼ inches high and 2 5/8 inches wide. The carver used the natural shape of the root to create a pine tree and plum blossom. The workmanship is great. The design, carving and polishing are all very well executed. The bottom was filled with softer wood. It is in excellent condition.

A finely cast bronze ink stone with cover. Marked Qianlong (1736-1795). Probably of the period but not later than early 19th century.
Diameter 15 cm , H. 2 cm.
This early 20th century Chinese porcelain water jar is 2 ½ inches tall and 2 ¼ inches wide. It has hand painted butterflies and a floral design over a white background. The color is slightly worn and it is in good condition.
This carved bamboo brush holder (BiTong) is an early 20th century product. It depicts five sages and two young servants surrounded by pine trees and rocks. It is 6 ½” high and 5”~ 5 ½” in diameter. The carving is elegant and quite deep. Aside from some cracks due to the age and nature of the bamboo, it is in excellent condition.

This is a late 19th or early 20th century Chinese carved HuangYang root wood scepter (Ru Yi). It measures 17 inches long and 3 ¼ inches at its widest part. It is in very good condition.
This mid 19th century famille-rose seal box is 1¾ inches tall and 3½ inches in diameter. It has Qian Long mark on the bottom. The mark is fictitious which is quite common. It is decorated with a floral design. Though the color is slightly worn and tiny chip appears inside the cover, it is in great condition.
