Scarce and beautiful early type of pottery Oil lamp, Roman 1st.-2nd. century AD.

The lamp is of the Loeschcke Typus VIII and displays a scene with Hermes in very high relief. The lamp is stamped with a known scarce makers name: COPPI.RES

Condition: Choice and completely intact, thus rare!

Roman figural terracotta oil lamp with single handle. The discus is framed by two concentric rings, in the middle is a high profile bust of a woman with cloak over one shoulder and naked breast. Maker's mark on the bottom: MNOVIVSI. He was a lamp maker, known as M. Novius Justus, with a workshop situated in North Africa and produced oil lamps from 120 – 180 AD.

The lamp is of the Loeschcke Typus VIII and displays a scene with Hercules with bow and club on the discus. Very high relief! Finely stamped with makers or workshop name: CIVA.ALE(?)

Condition: Choice, a crack repaired othervise intact with nothing missing.

Extremely rare early discus shaped type of pottery Oil lamp, Roman late 1st. century AD.

The lamp is of the Loeschcke Type IV and displays a scene with Hercules fighting the Hydra on it's discus. An awesome motif and an important lamp for the historically interested collector or scolar.

Condition: Nice for the rare type, a few cracks restored nicely and intact with nothing missing...

Pair of Chinese gilt wood panels with openwork carved background of geometric lattice design. Each panel with mirrored high relief carvings of a tall vase with a bouquet of floral elements such as lotus, peony, chrysanthemum, and berries surrounded by fluttering hummingbirds. The body of the vase surrounded by lucky bats, scrolls, and other auspicious objects. Each panel bears a calligraphy inscription in the top corner.

A Chinese porcelain water dropper in the shape of a fish, made of Macang clay (麻倉土）and finished with light blue glaze. Ming Dynasty, circa late 16th century. Condition: kiln cracks on the bottom and under the fish's mouth, please see photos for detail. Length: 5-1/4".

Chinese yixing zisha teapot Fo Shou shape. 16 cm wide. 6,5 cm high. Please see on the pictures for the conditions. No crack or hairlines. no repair. Mark at inside the lid.

Rare Chinese Tang dynasty Changsha bowl with bird motive. 13 cm now. maybe 15,5 cm if complete.

Chinese 19th - 20th Century bronze censer / incense burner . 13 cm wide. 6 cm high. Xuande mark.

This is Noren used by a cotton merchant in Kyoto during the Edo period. Cotton is thick and spun by hand. It is boldly written in Tsutsugaki. It is dyed with natural indigo. It has a faint fade that is sparse in part but does not stand out.It has a small hole but is not outstanding. Size Length 143 cm / 56.2inch Width 128 cm / 50.3 inch ケースF

Finely painted Satsuma chatelaine with a silver backing and chain. The porcelain disks are tapered in size with the largest being iris, followed by a peacock, then butterflies, and finally a coiled dragon. The images are surrounded with cobalt blue and gold bands. This chatelaine could easily be made into a necklace. Measures 5.25" long with the largest tile a little under 1 inch diameter and the smallest being 1/2" diameter. Dates circa 1900.

A set of two Japanese porcelain cups and saucers with fine decoration in the Imari palette, underglaze blue, iron red and abundantly gold. Cups with a blossom mark. Condition: fine, saucers with kiln grit residue. Dimension: cup: c. 7.1 diameter, 4.6 cm high, saucer: c. 12.2 cm diameter, 2.3 cm high.

A small Chinese gilded silver dish standing on four splayed feet, with pierced design of dragons, bamboo chrysanthemum and prunus among rocaille. Base with maker's mark in Chinese characters. Condition: one foot with a tiny loss (see photo no. 11), maybe later gilding. Dimension: diameter: 13.7 cm, 4.1 cm high, weight: 122 g.

The female part (明妃）of a Tibetan gilt statue of Nandikesvara (歡喜佛）. 19th century or earlier. Condition: gilt lost. We noticed that there are two layers of gilt remained: the original one is glossier, and the later layer is not as glossy, and a good part of them are gone now. Dimensions: 4-1/2"w, 4"h.

DESCRIPTION: A nice old Chinese toggle carved from a striated wood in the form of two peaches. The peach is a symbol of longevity, and this thick toggle has a wonderful aged patina that only comes from age and handling. Strung with a cord through the holes under the stems, it would have hung from a sash and been used as a counterweight to a tobacco pouch or other utilitarian object. A wonderful example of Chinese folk art, this toggle dates from the 1700’s...

An Akan gilt metal gold weight cast as a bird on round tapering base. The Akan gold weights are quite unique in the world for their forms. Their weights are so distinguished by their shape that they are now considered decorative art forms only few inches in size. Historically, they were used for measuring gold dust, which was circulating as currency in Ghana and Ivory Coast among the Akans from the 15th until the end of the 19th century. Measures 2.75 inches high and dates late 1800s.

Rare silver mounted boar's tusk opium pipe from the Himalayas in the Tibetan area. The bowl is in the form of a dragon's head with dark blue glass eyes and has a cover fashioned as the dragon's nose with a chain attached. Marked 925. This is real treasure for the collector and is in excellent working condition. Following the outer curve it measures 7.5 inches. Dates circa 1900.

A rare pair of Japanese double gourd shaped porcelain vases, decorated with a ho-o bird flying over "prunus mume" in overglaze blue, green, yellow, aubergine, iron red and gold. Standing on a broad footrim, the rim with "kuchibeni". Condition: fine, only one vase with a short hairline ending in a tiny rim frit on the rear side (please see photo no. 12). Dimension: 19.3 cm high.

A small cast iron Japanese tetsubin of slightly flared cylindrical form, decorated in relief to one side with maple leaves floating on a stream against a textured ground. The backside is plain save for the textured ground and the foundry mark for Kinshudo. The cover is flat with a pine cone finial and the handle can be moved to either side. In excellent condition, it measures 2.5 inches high excluding the handle, diameter about 3" at widest. Dates late 19th Century.

Description: A Tang white-glazed box was preserved with an original cover.
On top of the cover, the motif of a butterfly was decorated.
This box was rarely found when the cover's decoration was done with hand-shaped motif.

A very lovely small Japanese teapot accented with decorative running splashes of gold against a dark brown almost black backdrop. The same color can be seen on the bottom 1/5 of the teapot just under the handle and continues to include the base bottom. The copper remaining exposed copper has a deep copper patina that comes only with age and usage. The handle features intricate basketry weaving. A pair of large Japanese porcelain dishes, beautifully decorated in five colors: underglaze blue, overglaze black, -green, -aubergine, iron red and gold. Showing an asymetrical design of a courtesan with her servant under a cherry tree, the right side with flowers. Rare Japanese silk jacket with a woven scene from an old Edo period tale about a trickster tanooki (also known as raccoon dog or tanuki) and a nobleman or samurai who is holding a pipe. In excellent condition, the black silk is satin silk, fine and smooth.

A nice lacquer screen mirror used by Scholars in their work tables. The mirror is surrounded by the usual key fret design while the base is carved with the auspicious melon, peony and peach, representing longevity and prosperity. The mirror looks like it is the original mirror. Size: H. 62.5cm. W. at the base, 41.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal wear and some age cracks.

DESCRIPTION: A beautiful antique Chinese necklace strung with pink coral, turquoise and silver beads. Three silver figural pendants hang from the necklace, including a foo dog, a horse with saddle and bridal, and a child holding a large flower, each with agate beads. Large Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) iridescent green glazed tapering ovoid form burial jar decorated with a band of well moulded animal forms extending around the upper circumference of the jar. Japanese incense box in the form of a flattened drum with realistic wood grain pattern in gold flake togidashi maki-e lacquer and high relief lacquer to resemble iron studs along the sides. The top of the box is done in low-relief maki-e gold lacquer with the image of a mother hen and father rooster pecking for food with their three infant chicks. The crest and waddle of each rooster are done with touches of red lacquer. The interior box and bottom are done in dense nashiji lacquer gold flakes. ...

Japanese lacquer incense box with low-relief designs of plum blossoms in maki-e lacquer on finely sprinkled nashiji lacquer ground. The plum branch pattern is continuous along the sides of the box. The base and interior of the box are finished in fine nashiji lacquer, and the space where the lid and base join together is done with silver.

A round moon shaped Japanese kogo or incense box with sprinkled gold lacquer maki-e motif of an anthropomorphic rabbit pounding mochi. The rabbit wears a decorative robe with scrolling vine motifs. The interior of the box and foot are adorned with nashiji gold flake on black lacquer ground.
