A very attractive large stamp seal of the hemispheric design / round gable form, Late Ubaid to Uruk period of central-northern Mesopotamia, 4th. millenium BC.

Finely polished seal in a nice black serpentine stone, and carved with a scarce and peculiar pattern of cross angles under symethric horisontal lines!

Condition: Nice VF, some smooth wear but intact and with a nice ancient patina...

A thick cylinder seal of greyish stone showing a worshipper introduced to a seated god by a Demigod, probably another godess in the field but weak. Ur III Period, 3rd millennium BC.

Size: 15,5 mm. thick and 21 mm tall.

Condition: Near VF, intact but with some wear and embedded earthern encrustations. Never the less quite attractive in hand.

Ivory netsuke of a group of three compactly intertwined monkeys, the smallest holding a longevity peach against him. Their eyes are inlaid horn. Their coats are carefully incised and their fingers are finely sculpted. Natural himotoshi through one of the legs.
Signature on the right flank of the largest monkey, in an unidentified rectangular reserve.

An inlaid cartouche near the snake reads Kan. The two-sided panel is set into a frame with matt black iron texture over a raw kiri-wood panel inset with three windows...

Huge tanned washi Japanese paper coated in kakishibu persimmon tannin repaired with paper patchwork like an unintentional collage work, used to be laid under tatami mat or pasted on the wall of kura warehouse for humidity control and sunburn prevention. Cotton cloth with katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and dyed with pigments, which is called "wa-sarasa", Japanese chintz. It was produced from late Edo to early Meiji period. This one is "Sakai-sarasa", made in Sakai in Osaka. The second half of the 19th century. In excellent condition. W:34cm, L:120cm

Cotton cloth with katazome pattern which is called "Narumi-Kongata", imitating Arimatsu-Narumi shibori pattern. It is called "Urumi-zome among craftspeople. It uses plural stencils and requires high dyeing technique. In good condition but has two mending patches for the cut which used to be the neck part and in one side of selvedges. A pair of attractive early European iron keys, with remnants of copper on the larger one, c. 16th. century.

Lot includes a large 14,5 cm. long key with remnants of copper plating and cross cut bit, early 16th. century, perhaps even earlier. The other key with a hearthshaped bow, measuring 10,7 cm. c. 16th. century.

Condition: Very fine, nice metal with a thick and stable iron patina.

Cotton futonji with katazome (stencil-resist dye), which is remade from yogi (one kind of futon in the shape of kimono). It is made of hand spun cotton and dyed with vegetable indigo. The reddish-brown color is bengara (iron oxide red pigment). 19th century. In good condition except for three mending patches. one snag and some small holes. W:153cm, L:165cm

Tang terra cotta image of a Fat Lady. Traces of original pigment with legible facial features (note noted in enlargements). This is the smallest one I have ever seen- miniatures are extremely rare. H: 6.2cm. The bottom is uneven (just appears to have been made that way) there are traces of glue where it was probably once attached to a stand, otherwise, good condition- no damage or repair.

A colorless Webb ewer or cruet decorated with an acid etched floral design and having an acorn stopper. The 7 ½ inch tall piece is 10 inches tall with the stopper in place. The stopper is not the original but is the correct style of stopper for this piece.

The surface of this black glazed bowl signed on the base Dohachi has been impressed all over with seals in a style known as In-chirashi. It comes in an ancient wooden box with ebony rim titled inside Dohachi Saku (Chirashi-in) Chawan, while outside a much-worn paper label reads In-chirashi Dohachi Saku Chawan. The original silk pouch, much deteriorated, is included, but no longer strong enough to hold the bowl...

A large brooch of Chinese export silver made in filigree technique backing and embellished with enamelling and a very good carved red coral piece in the shape of a beautiful lady. The mouth of this vase opens like the thickly petaled chrysanthemum flower over a body decorated in thin blue with a roiling landscape of lakes and trees dotted with pavilions. It is an excellent example of the Hirado tradition in the 19th century. The vase is 14 cm (5-1/2 inches) diameter,28.8 cm (11-1/2 inches) tall and is in excellent condition.
