A very rare early Ming 15th century longquan celadon octagonal shape large dish, octagonal shape with wide spread rim and unglazed base, dish decorated with carving flower motif at interior, dish covered with bluish green glaze.
Dish is in very good condition no chip, no crack, no restoration.

This Olmec maskette is 1 7/8" long, 1 5/8" wide and 1" thick. It has been in a fire, possibly sacrificial in nature, with mild damage to one back edge which lends to its authenticity. It is made from Fuchsite which was used by the Olmecs. Fushsite is a form of mica which can readily be seen in the pictures. This piece was almost certainly used in magical shamanistic ceremonies. I just couldn't get a decent picture of how this piece reflects light...

An early 18th Century deep dish with very fine porcelain body decorated in underglaze blue depicting a four clawed dragon, amongst cloud scrolls, in pursuit of a flaming pearl. This item was made in Jingdezhen, Jianxi province, during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723 - 1735). A rare and very finely enamelled small vase. On the base is the iron red hall mark - Ju ren tang zhi - "Made for the hall where one dwells in benevolence". This very well carved late 19th century wood netsuke of a coiled snake is 2 ½” long, 1 ½” wide and 1” high. It is in excellent condition.
A rare wine ewer, with warming pot, depicting the famous Tang Dynasty "drunken" poet Li Bai (701 - 762), with one of his best known poems and another inscribed on the warmer. Both poems are signed by the same calligrapher. This item carries the reign mark of the Tongzhi emperor (1862 - 1874)but was probably made a little later during the Guangxu reign (1875-1908). Condition - there are chips to the edges of the warmer (please see enlargement 1)...
A lovingly carved "pitch pine" Madonna by self taught Sister Josephine - one of Saint Francis Cabrini's first orphans who, according to the accompanying letter, was "close to and loved by Mother Cabrini". Mother Cabrini was the first American citizen to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church and is the Patron Saint of Immigrants. Sister Josephine was born 1n 1877 - the same year that Mother Cabrini took her religious vows - she died, aged 101, in New York. Condition - very good...

This pair of Chinese archer rings with wood stands and caps is a product of late 19th century. They are 1 3/16” high (the darker one is a little shorter), 1 3/8” in diameter and a quarter of an inch thick. They are 2 ½” high with the carved wood stands and caps. The two knobs are made from natural red coral. They are in excellent condition and look great on a scholar’s desk.
This Chinese carved jade (jadeite) brush washer is a product of the early 20th century. It depicts a lotus leaf and a blossom on its side. It is 5 ¼” long, 3” wide and half an inch thick. It is in excellent condition.
