Very nice Staffordshire transferware plate in the “Lion” pattern from the “Quadruped” series by Hall. The plate is very finely decorated in underglaze blue with four reserves depicting zebras, goats, deer and horses, surrounding a central reserve depicting a lion. Unmarked.

Origin: England, 1820-30. Condition: excellent, no chips or cracks, light discoloration on back (easily removed). Size: 10” diameter.

Antique Chinese monochrome porcelain vase with dripping Flambé (Jingdezhen Jun) glaze. Because the glaze effect is made by the combining of various colors and thus the fusing of different minerals, it is also called Transmutation glaze. Pink luster geometric border pattern with flowers in reserves and enamelling in green, with some red and gilt. Diameter of bowl "6/ 15.3 cm, height "3/ 7.5 cm, diameter of dish "7 ½ / 19.5 cm. Condition: a hairline to the bowl and an old restoration to the border of the dish (cf. pics).

An antique Japanese Gyosho Bako (street peddler's chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia). All original hand forged iron hardware. Hinged door opens to 5 inner drawers of varying sizes where special wares were stored. 4 upper rings were used in conjunction with rope to provide back pack support. Unusual back handle was used to assist in lifting the Tansu onto ones back.

A vintage c1900-10 paper-wrapped 12-1/2 x 3-3/4" glove box with an applied celluloid Neoclassical portrait of a lady in a gilt metal frame. This is a beautiful antique porcelain vase from the Fukagawa factory. It is beautifully painted and has extremely fine enamel work. Look close at the cherry blossom images to appreciate this great artistry. The vase stands 9 3/4 inches tall. Condition is excellent and there are no condition issues.

Old Chinese stone ware bottle. This shape is fairly generic and could date anywhere from Jin Dynasty to Ming, so I am taking the middle road and attributing it as Yuan. The mouth is chipped but it has a nice shape, note my photo editing software tend to truncate images, so this piece is more elegant in real life than the photos indicate. The glaze has traces of a paraffin patina. H: 24cm/9.5in and D: 18cm/7in.

Know more for his works of powdery-blue celadon, on occasion Sozan also produced fine white porcelains as well. This delicately-crafted porcelain kashibachi (sweets bowl) is one such example. A Finely Glazed Celadon Bowl Korea, Koryo Dynasty, early 12th Century It’s of conical form flaring from a ring foor to the wide mouth, incised in the well and below the lip with narrow line and covered overall by an evenly toned grey green celadon glaze. A short hair line crack and tiny small repair on the rim, otherwise it is in fine condition. It measures 7” d. x 2 ¾” h.

This is a wonderful Qing Dynasty child's hat from Shui minority group in the Rong Jiang area. It is traditional looking Chinese cap style made with silk fabric and silk split thread embroidery, and top knot. This hat is over 100 years old, and has wonderfully soft patina, and shows some wear.
