Small reliquary box, of cylindrical shape, with its cupola shaped lid ending in a decorated point at its top. The body of the box is decorated with three heads of Buddha in relief and three stars themselves in relief, surmounting a geometric design also in relief. Silver alloy, with a fine age patina. Remnants of soil encrustations. Pakistan, Graeco-Buddhist art, Gandhara Period, Ca. 1st to 3rd century. Height: 7.8 cm. Good condition.

An extremely rare green-glazed Lotus Vase Liao Dynasty of compressed double-gourd form, emanating from a splayed lotus base, the lower section of sumptuous flared form, moulded with crisp vertical lappets, covered all over in a pale green glaze, the lappets alternating from green to brown to yellow. An extremely rare seal made of solid silver c. late 2nd.-early 1st. millenium BC.

The seal of a familiar type of cone-formed seals, known in stone and bronze, as Western Mesopotamian types from Urartu and other Neo-Hittite / Neo-Assyrian client states further south. The seal engraved in the base with two figures.

Seals of silver are extremely rare from any of the ancient cultures, especially a seal this early. We've had only 3 other silver seals in stock for 25 years...

A lovely tan ancient Egyptian Scarab, more than 2,300 years old, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. This is an extremely rare Paleo Folsom made from a dark gray, translucent flint. It is 1 11/16" by 13/16". Both faces are fluted to the tip. The basal edge is concave and the haft is ground most of the way up the blade edges. It has classic Folsom edge work. Nice natural patina with good deposits and authentic accumulations noted. It was found in the early 60's. It is from the west Texas, Oklahoma, eastern New Mexico area. It is ex-Mike Oliver collection. This is priced way below market value...

A very large and outstanding fragmentary bust of Vishnu, dating to circa the 5th-6th century AD. The statue measures a shade over 6-1/2" in height and is in outstanding, original condition as a fragment. Attached to a custom made base. A related example dating to the same period is on exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is included in this listing for comparison (the last photograph).

Finely cast, with nice details, miniature statue of bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, standing on a lotus base, his left hand holding what seems to be a gourd. Bronze, with encrusted reddish green patina, with traces of the original gilding. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 5.6 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Good condition.
