This early 20th century Japanese ivory netsuke is 1 7/8 inches tall and 1 3/8 inches wide. It depicts an old sage holding a wine cup. A frog and a gourd are beside him. It is signed ¡°Gyokushi¡± and is in great condition.

This peach-shaped kogo (incense box) is made of fine kinuta celadon from one of the great masters of the Meiji era—Suwa Sozan. A classic design, the peach is said to represent long-life for mortals and immortality for the gods in asian folklore. According to legend, the moon goddess—a powerful alchemist—can make an elixir from peaches that grow in the garden of the western paradise with miraculous revitalizing properties...

Antique Japanese ikebana (flower arrangement) basket, comprised of tightly hand-woven, thin strips of bamboo. The basket has an hourglass figure with a wide mouth and slightly fluted lip. The handles is formed with gnarled wisteria and bamboo branches, tightly wound with twisted bamboo. The base of the foot is recessed, with a 3-character signature.

Japanese half section Mizuya or kitchen buffet tansu. Constructed of Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) wood. The piece opens by two large front sliding panels to the large interior with 2 recessed shelves. The sides of the chest have horizontal bracing slats for reinforcement.

Antique Chinese small carved bamboo brush pot, handcarved with a scene of noble men in a boat with a back drop of swirling water, craggy rocks and knotty pines, rim and foot are trimmed with a dark hardwood.

Japanese bronze usubata (container for ikebana flower arranging), with pair of Mandarin ducks with gold inlay, wonderful red patina pattern over all, in two pieces, Taisho Period (early 20th century). Size: 10" high x 12" wide

Chinese antique small jade medallion, made of very pale green jade, carved on both sides with four butterflies surrounding a round inset piece which is carved to spin on it's own. Size: 2 1/4" wide (diameter) x 1/8" thick.

This oval repousse box with a well-executed peony design on a hinged lid opens to a beveled mirror and case with three separate compartments covered by a single silver lid with a floral-form knop. The sides are incised with a continuing floral design and the base is impressed in the center with a Chinese character hallmark. The repousse on the lid is very well-worked against a fine punched background...

A rare pair of Qajar style Persian enamel small vases made in Iran during either the 19th or early 20th Century. Condition - there are substantial losses to the enamels of both vases but no indentations...

This very well carved early 20th century Japanese netsuke is three quarters of an inch high, 1 3/8 inches wide and 1 ½ inches deep. It depicts two playful mice sitting in a woven basket. Both mice have inlayed horn eyes. It is signed “Shozan”. It is in excellent condition.

Rice bag made of hand-spun and vegetable indigo dye cotton fragments which are kasuri, katazome (stencil-resist dye) stripes etc. It was used when people dedicated rice or other grains to temples or shrines. It has beautiful fine katazome cotton cloth for lining. In good condition but string in the hem is damaged and cord for binding is lost. 19th to early 20th century. W:37cm, H:27.5cm

Japanese 2-section isho tansu (clothing chest of drawers), from the Kyoto area. The chest is made with Sugi (cypress) wood in the original glossy red lacquer finish a lacquering process know asiro-urushi (色漆), literally "color lacquer"and has 11 drawers with charming heart-shaped keyholes and black iron warabite pulls. The top section houses a large open compartment behind two Keyaki (elm) sliding panels in a dark finish, with black lacquer frames...

Antique Japanese bronze temple bell, or "bonsho", with a handle of dragon heads called a ryuzu, protrusions called "chi chi" or "nyu" to improve resonance of sound, the "tsuki-za" striking panels, and the "mei-bun" inscription of the bell's history...
