A pair of tall Sheffield plate candlesticks with conforming bobeche. On round bases with lines alternating with elongated ovals up the base, column and socket. This style was current around 1800. The wear or “bleed” where the copper shows is on the high places. They are 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 5 ½ inches (14 cm) diameter at the base. No marks. Probably English.

Antique 9K gold Victorian "message" ring, "Mizpah, symbolizing a bond between two people, comes from a bible quote in the book of Genesis, "The Lord watch between thee and me, when we are absent one from another". Mizpah is the Hebrew word for "Watchtower", a pillar of stones which symbolized the covenant between Jacob and Laban. Mizpah rings were often exchanged between two people in the hope of protecting the two during a period of separation, often by war.

Lovely gray lava beads which were inspired by the ruins of Pompeii in Italy. Lava jewelry was actually made from the lava of Mt. Vesuvius as souvenir jewelry fro travelers on the Grand Tour. Notice how the beads are properly graduated, as one would only see on early jewelry made before mass production. A museum quality sculpture of a Tilapia nilotica fish which is commonly found in the Nile River. This fish was greatly loved by the ancient Egyptians and it was used as a decorative motif on a variety of materials including stone, ceramics and glass. Here the fish has been fully finished with its green glaze covering touched with black pigment depicting eyes and other details.

Blue-glazed porcelain carp fish, a Korean scholar’s water dropper. The carp was regarded as a symbol of endurance and never-ceasing ambition - a good example for a calligrapher. The two small holes let out the drops of water needed to make fluent ink out of the hard and dry inkstone surface. Joseon dynasty, probably late 19th century. Width "3/ 7.5 cm, height "1/ 2.7 cm. A blue and white gravy jug or creamer, Chinese export porcelain, c 1830. The hand painted decoration of pagodas in a seascape is cut off on both sides of the handle, mimicking the competitive English porcelain factories, where this was an obvious downside of the new and rational method of printing.
